Default Q: Intercooler sending unit location?

New owner of 04-0010(11000 miles totally stock). Took it for a run & intercooler temp was 180+ & close to red line with a couple of boost romps(70 deg ambient). Dash temp shows normal. Backflushed the system, removed rust build from pump fittings(brilliant using steel instead of brass),checked impeller, etc. Pump & fans work. New anti freeze with wetter water & now I'm at a rock solid 165 deg. Coolant tank is 80 deg. Temp will go to 165 from cold idle, indicating to me that the sensor must be in cooling system somewhere since it's not in intercooler reservoir.
Searching the forum I'm reading of(stock) cars w temps of 120-130. Do I have an issue or is my sensor installed somewhere different? Bob

Funny that you mention this. I was on my way home (2 1/2 hour drive) last weekend and mine was between 160 and 180 pretty much the entire way. Air temp about 80 degrees. During the warm days of summer it's very rare to see the gauge below 160

I believe on the 2004 the gauge pod is the inlet air temp not the actual temperature of the supercharger overflow tank. Did you verify your pump was working?

The pump & fans are operating. The reason I mentioned the reservoir temp is because I read that when adding a supercharger to a build, that's where they install the temp sending unit.

I also think that gauge shows air inlet temp, not intercooler coolant temp. In which case, 160 degrees isn't out of the normal for a long hot drive where everything is heat soaked.
