Help: Emissions Problem - 2008 S281 SC
I have a 2008 S281RF with an offroad x pipe and SCT tuner. I'm wanting to return the car to stock and I've been looking for an X or H pipe with cats. This is the part I'm looking at: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2005-2009-Fo...VWw0dt&vxp=mtr
I need the car to pass emissions testing and not throw a CEL. I'm in Texas. Here's my problem: I contacted magnaflow and was informed that I need to determine whether or not the car was CARB compliant since there is another part number with cali cats. I looked extensively on the car and can't find the catalyst tag. I'm now thinking that it was on the original valve covers and which have been replaced. Does anyone know of any other way to determine whether or not the ECM is setup for cali or fed emissions? Any help is greatly appreciated. |

All (in theory) of the 2005-2009 Saleen Mustangs should be a California spec vehicle. Regardless of Irvine or Troy facility.
If a dealer ordered (drop shipped) or sent Saleen a vehicle from dealer stock without Cal Emissions, it would have been rejected for conversion. How do I know this? I have a partial list of chassis rejections for vehicles Saleen did not convert, either because the vehicle was ordered incorrectly or came from dealer stock incorrect. |

Originally it would have been setup to pass emissions. Since you have an off-road pipe & tuner & assuming you don't have a CEL. I would think you have a tune in the car for the off-road pipe so the rear O2s are probably turned off. Most OBD scanner will tell you if the car is emissions ready.

If this is the case, then Magnaflow is telling me the accurate PN for Cali emissions is 49001, opposed to 24151 for federal emissions. I'm only posting because it was a little difficult to get any manufacture to guarantee their product would replace OEM, pass inspection, and not generate a CEL. If I end up purchasing this unit, I'll reply and let everyone know if it actually works as promised. |

You are correct. The car currently has a few mods and the tuner has disabled the O2's.
My goal is to eliminate the mods and "return to stock" with the programmer. |

Saleen did confirm that all models excluding the "Extreme" would be programmed for Cali emissions.
Also, I don't think the PN provided from Magnaflow is accurate so I will be searching for a stock replacement. Any ideas on where to get one? |

We have a factory H pipe in stock if you end up wanting to go that route.
