Default Boost Gauge: Confused what Saleen Offers

I have a 08 Racecraft. I'd like to put a boost gauge in. My question is: can't I just run a tap from Bypass valve line to a mechanical Boost gauge? Why does Saleen use an electronic signal instead of a mechanical? Is a real reason I should go with Saleen's kit? Now, I really like the look of the Heritage Gauge so I'd prefer that, but I don't like that its electrical and not mechanical. Am I missing something? Inform me please.

Thanks,
Brian

Mechanical gauges would bring noise with them and maybe running the line was more involved than Saleen wanted.

The 1993-1998 Saleen axillary gauges are mechanical.

I don't have an answer, but ease of instillation and cost would be in my top five reasons for electrical gauges.

Maybe a few others will know for sure.

You could probably find a great deal on a 2008 DG/ Heritage pod from Mike in TN. As well as Jess Albright if your decide to go electrical.

If you don't mind spending the coin for custom... you can have a mechanical gauge refaced at a gauge works shop. A few notable establishments in around SO-CAL.

Have a talk with the gauge shop contact. Find the mechanical gauges you like. Take a photo of your Racecraft overlay (or buy a spare RC overlay from Mike and supply it with the gauges). Then package and ship the materials.

Who's the gauge shop contact? Are the heritage pod's electrical too? I may just run one of those. Don't wanna turn a boost gauge into a couple hundred dollars.

I'm sorry to be a pain again. Does anyone have the part number for the Heritage Boost Gauge and whatever I need to run it (sending unit, harness, etc)? What do I need? I'll get a vent pod from somewhere else unless Saleen has that too. Thanks.
