Thumbs up Fabulous Fords Forever! at Knott's -- Sunday, April 27, 2014

Fabulous Fords Forever at Knott's Weekend 2014

  • Bring your Saleen -- no matter its condition -- to the largest non-judged show of its kind in the world!

Pre-Register by March 31 (DEADLINE WAS EXTENDED, BUT IS NOW CLOSED) -- you can do so online or download a form at http://www.fabulousfordsforever.org

SATURDAY, APRIL 26:

Club Members: Join us for a members-only dinner event -- RSVP Required for each person in your party -- Send an email to jimd@soec.org or call 714-369-8621 for more info. Casual attire, pay-your-own meal and expect to pay $12-20-plus for your meal per person. Space is limited, and spouses (or significant others) and family are welcome. We expect a group of about 50 people. More info to be announced.

SUNDAY, APRIL 27:

We'll do an early morning cruise to Knott's (see lower map below) -- normally this is with Steve and Molly, but this year it is on our own with maybe a couple of Saleen staff -- Meet at Saleen at 7:45 a.m.; planned departure by 8:00 a.m. Everyone's invited. You must be pre-registered for the show and have your confirmation card hanging from your rear view mirror as you enter the Knott's gate.

Steve Saleen will not be attending this year as he is traveling, but we will have George Follmer autographing posters at the Saleen booth.

We will need some volunteers to help parking from 5:30 - 10:00 a.m. and you get a free VIP lunch with journalists and celebrities plus preferential parking, but we need a commitment by April 4. You must also have your car registered for the show, or get a ride with someone (let Jim D. know if you need a ride).

We might need additional helpers starting at 7:00 a.m., so if you arrive early, please let Jim D. know you can help and we'll give you a vest or a task to help with .

Subscribe to this thread for more details to come!

I will be there! Can't wait to see all of you. I will be bringing my 14 White Label. Has anyone had any problems booking the hotel room at Ayres? I called and gave the discount code and they didn't know anything about it.

Never mind my previous question. Trying to read long paragraphs on a smartphone can be a challenge lol. I'm definitely going then. This will be my first car show. Can't wait to see all of the Mustangs.

Just tell them that it is the Saleen Club event. They have the rooms listed at $79 for this event. I called a couple days back and got booked.

Roll Call: Who is all coming in for the Knotts show? We havent heard if Saleen isnt having an Open House and we are thinking they wont due to all the efforts at both 50th events. We've had several phone calls and emailes....so IF Saleen doesnt have an open house we may plan another cruise and end up at Saleen for the SOEC dinner.

Jason, I already PM-ed Jim, as I wondered if Saleen is organising something the day prior to Knotts.
Jim assumed they would in this topic: http://saleenforums.soec.org/showthr...864#post115864
But it has been a bit quiet so far.

Is there a diner planned ? Maybe I missed something

Saleen open house on Saturday evening has yet to be confirmed... there is a lot of traveling for the Saleen camp in April, so please understand their plans for Saturday are still up in the air.

Stay tuned.

Sorry for the last minute updates:

Steve will not be in attendance at Knott's -- he is traveling to Beijing.

Saturday's traditional Open House for members at Saleen is canceled -- if you want a tour, best get over to Saleen from 8:30-5:00 during the week and ask for a tour and someone would be glad to show you around. Jason at 281 Motorsports talked about organizing something, so stay tuned.

Saturday night's dinner is open to anyone who wants to attend... we'll have restaurant information shortly, but plan around 5:30. My cell is 714-580-3572.

Sunday's cruise to Knott's will be smaller-scale and on our own -- with all the Saleen family traveling, we won't have any Saleen-family escorts this year. Molly is flying-in late from the New York Auto Show and will meet us at Knott's in the morning. All vehicles welcome! Meet at Saleen at 8:00 for departure at 8:15. I will not be there as I will already be at Knott's, but someone please take charge. :)

Thanks Jim!

We are going to have an Open House (Free) BBQ luncheon at our facility just about 15 miles from the Saleen headquarters. Our event will start at 12pm. We will wrap up at the shop and head out for a nice windy road cruise and work those Saleen out in the twisties. We will end up having dinner location for all SOEC members.

If you would like more details or to sign up to participate, please use our online reservation site http://events.constantcontact.com/re...81gqlb30689797

**Please make sure to have a full tank of gas when arriving.

Great, I'll be there with my rental Hertz Penske GT.
I spoke to you on Friday at the 50th in Las Vegas, where you mentioned this.
May you can have a look at what Penske did to this car, because the suspension is so tough. It maybe track-wörthy, but it handles terrible on the streets of L.A.

Hey guys!

I'm a brand new member here, and am eager to attend my first Saleen event. I got an email regarding the event coming up this weekend, and would love to attend Sunday, but I have a non-Ford Saleen (an S620 Camaro in fact) At the risk of possibly asking a dumb question, is this an all-Saleen event as well, or strictly Ford Saleens? Thanks.

Sorry, but it's Ford Saleens at this event.

If you can attend Saturday, you're welcome to join us, and of course as a spectator please come to Sunday's show.

And plan ahead on September 20 for the Saleen Show.

Jason, your effort for the last minute BBQ was well apriciated,
An earlier announcement would probably geather more Mustangers.
The drive on the backroads was great.
I got to meet a couple guys from the forum @ the SOEC dinner.

Knotts made up for what the 50th at Las Vegas lacked.
Great cars, well organised.
I got 1 scalectrix Trans-Am model signed by George Folmer and 2 signed by Parnelli Jones.
PJ even remembered me frrom my visit to his race-car collection, back in 2011.
Just as Saleen was packing for the day, I got a hold of a couple Saleen GF-edition poster, and even got Molly to sign the poster and have a picture taken with her.

I will definitly visit this show again.

Dutch-Twister,

Thanks for the compliment! We actually didnt have any plans to do anything this year due to our massive involvement with the 50th Anniversary Mustang Celebration in Las Vegas. We had kind of thought about it, but it wasnt until Jim D. mentioned to us that the Saleen family would be out of town and couldnt host anything for club members. Jim asked us to throw a welcoming party and plan the SOEC dinner, naturally we did as we were honored to be asked. So with only a few days notice, I rallyed the exhausted team and warmed up the bbq.

Default Saleen Display

Here is a short video of the Saleen Display at Fabulous Fords. It's not the best quality but it's better than nothing. I had a great time and loved meeting Jim for the first time! The SOEC had a great showing! Loved all the Saleens!!
