I'm looking at midpipes and there seems to be a ton of choices.

I'm just looking for more noise (but good noise), I think the car should be a little louder than it is. I'm looking at the midpipes based on a bunch of things I've read.

I like the sound now, but I just think it could be better. So my questions are:

What's the main difference between an H or an X, which do most prefer, and which brand?

What are the pros/cons of off-road pipes, particularly with the CEL, etc?

Hmm, apparently this forum doesn't have an edit (as such, sorry about the double-post).

When I do decide on which to get, would my car have the long or the short headers on it?

Did they put all-borla on it, or do they still have factory GT headers on them?

I recently posted a thread asking about the exhaust manifold on my saleen. I also asked about different header and mid pipe combinations with the saleen borla after cats. This thread might answer some questions, as i am not the most knowledgeable person on the subject. http://saleenforums.soec.org/showthread.php?t=3573

Bruce, those look pretty. Do you avoid the rain storms?

Well Dave, unfortunately it has been caught in the rain twice. Once coming back from North of Boston and once from south of Hartford. Other than that it only comes out to play in good weather and never in winter (from November to April).

Both are going to be loud with the right kind of muffler as long as it is an offroad. For the x if you use a chamber muffler its going to be raspy, if you use a straight through (slp lm 1, borla stinger) it will be really crackly and pop. All my friends prefer x's but im personally a fan of the h's. However, the sound also depends on what kind of material is used for the piping.

Thanks for that.

I ended up ordering a MAC o/r H from Brenspeed yesterday. Now I have to wait and see (or hear) when it gets here.

I have the SS Basanni X w/cats and to me it's more of a sports car sound than a muscle car sound if that makes any sense. I didn't select the X, it was on the car already when I bought it.

Does anyone else think that the Borla/Intercooled tip combo sounds like ***? I have Stock Borla/tip with off road H and it sounds like a farm truck.
