So I am saving up for a superchager. I wan to go with a saleen superhcarger even though what i heard was that they were not engineered that well. I am looking at a 1.6 or 2.3 is there a big power difference between the two. is it worth going with the 2.3 because i will need to build my motor...i dont want that much power...i want to stick with saleen to keepmy car some what stock

1.6 sereis IV is $5,500

2.3 sereis v is $7,000

I would suggest you price around because you might find one a little cheaper.

My 2000 GT makes 345 hp / 360 ft lbs torque with a Saleen series II blower. Very respectable numbers that are well within the bounds of what your stock engine will handle.
Don't get caught up in the hype, the M90 based kit is more than enough for a strong n reliable street performer. Used kits can be had for about 2K on ebay / got lucky and scored mine as a new in the box / never used deal.

if you dont plan on building the engine i wouldnt bother, i think the rods are the weak link in the mod motors and are only good for a little over 400rwhp:frown:. so you cant get too crazy with the power

i saw a series II on ebay for 2,000 but i dont have money right now...i will get most of it when i'm out of school winter break and summer

i'm going with a series IV for now (maybe i find a good deal on a series II or IV) after looking at how much gauges, a better tune taking it to greg a RET, handheld tuner that adds about an extra 1600 to the price of the supercharger

as far as building my engine i will but later down the road...especially since with the series IV you dont need forged internals...then when my engine can handle it i can just up the boost or add a little shot

Honestly, do a no more than a series IV... I procharged my car, made a 415 pass had it tuned down to 401 and less than a week later my #8 "POWDER PRESSED" rod let go and decided to crack my block and shoot threw my oil pan. I was shifting at 4800 when this happened. I would recommend staying in the 360-370 range. I am now searching for a short block with high hopes that my heads arent messed up. My advise is either build the internals or plan for a motor swap.

Agreed.................in the 370 range on a safe tune will see it live a long life. Another factor to keep in mind is the grade of oil you choose. Factory 5w20 is not up to the task, suggest 10w30 full synthetic. Upgrading your intercooler and rad is also money well spent.
