If I wanted to replace the shocks and springs on my 97 S281 what parts do I need?

Thanks

Depends on what you're going for. Function or OE looks?

Referencing the 1998 Saleen Performance Parts Catalog, they mention the N2 Shock & Struts as factory equipment on the S351 & SR of that year. Struts/shocks pictured in said catalog feature a yellow and blue paint scheme, I’m going to guess Bilstein was/is the supplier for the N2s.

The standard Racecraft struts and shocks are/were black & gunmetal with red "Saleen Racecraft" marking. These are also in the 1998 catalog. Can't say I know who supplied these, part of me wants to say Carrera was the manufacturer.

Eibach supplied the Saleen spec springs. They're Racecraft Red.

If you’re looking to replace wore parts, you have a few options.
You can buy new Racecraft shocks, struts and springs. Stage 3 Motorsports should have these in stock. These would be the last version Saleen used on the SN-95 Mustang. I could be mistaken, but there could be slight differences in rates, height and maybe valving.
You can search for an NOS Racecraft suspension kit/ package for your 1997.
You can buy a different brand of performance shock, strut and spring.
Optional: You can replicate the OE look with powder coat, paint and four or six diecut logo transfers. Here's a '95 351 image for a reference, maybe helpful, or maybe not.

Good luck!

Great info. I think that I at least need to replace the shocks and struts. Maybe all new bushings. It creeks more then I would like and the ride seems a little soft. I wonder if I need to replace the springs as well?????

Springs would depend on how hard the car was used and miles.

Placing new urethane bushings and isolators from Energy Suspension (http://www.energysuspension.com/pages/must1.html) or Performance Suspension Technology (http://www.p-s-t.com/ford.aspx) should help.

Shocks and struts can be worn, depends on mileage.
