The 96 came with a soft tonneau cover that buckles inside the trunk and right behind the front seats. But there are 2 pins right behind the lightbar. One on each side. I asked the previous owner and was told that it came with locks but they don't know where they are. Does anyone know where I can get them?

Thanks.

On the FOX cars they were used to hold the metal support bar that went from side to side. I have the soft cover for my 01, I haven't used it since I have the hard cover, let me see if it has the nubs too.

You guilted me into looking at mine! I have only owned my 95 Speedster since May and have never taken the speedster cover off. I checked mine and it has the same pins and soft cover but no hardware to attach to the pins. Let me know if you fins out what you are missing as it appears I am in the same position.

Greg was on to something when he said the tabs were for the Spyder kit.

saleenlocator you mentioned something that goes from one side to the other. I can see how that would support it to stay straight. We need to find out exatly what we are missing.

hattrick you say you are missing it as well? Let me know what you find.

This is exactly what we're missing.

I felt bad so I went and pulled out the cover, the connectors are actually on the support rod that runs inside the cover. I will try to attched the pictures if I can't I will send them to Dave and have him put them up. You can call me if you want further clarification to to www.saleenls.com (http://www.saleenls.com) my number is there.

Greg thank you very much for the pictures, now do you have 2? One on each side? I thought it was one long bar but it looks like the female is only on one side of the support beam.

Yes, it is a two piece beam, I might be able to get step by step photos this weekend for you on how it goes together.

Hope this helps

Actually I just finished searching for them, California Mustang sold them at one time. When I pull mine out I will see if there is a tag on it.

I have the spyder soft tonnaue cover as well
The two aluminum rods are super simple in
Design, and in all honesty they appear to be
Something you can find in a fabric store
Like johanne fabrics ( or similar fabric store )
especially a place that sells curtains and window
Blinds. All you need is two rods that can lock
Together either by design or by screws.
The peg tacks at the ends are easily found
At a fabric store .

No, where does it attach to the car, not the cover.
What holds the bar to the car itself? Or does it just flap around?

The soft tonneau requires the bars and the buttons to hold it in place.

The hard tonneau uses the metal brackets attached to the hard cover, they side under the edge of the convertable well molding, and the center attaches to the seat belt brackets.

See the above pictures for both.

Greg does your hard Tonneau cover slide out of place? Mine moves around a little and was wondering if I wasn't placing it correctly. This is the first one I've ever owned.

O.K. Never mind. I found my cover, it is a semi-hard cover (boot) for the top.
The other one, is the hard tonneau cover that I do use. I have never had a use for the boot. The top, is always down.

The first couple of times I put it on I had trouble getting it to "lock" in I finally found a method that worked for me. I push the cover back as hard as I can, then latch the seat belt, pull the tention strap and that usually pulls it in to place and does not move. I also have the windscreen that might help with keeping it in place not sure.

For the soft cover if you have a copy of The Saleen Book by Brad Bowling look in the 2001 section page 212, there is a picture of my car with the soft cover on.

Here is the thread for the one for sale here http://saleenforums.soec.org/showthread.php?t=4254

I tried pushing it hard thinking the bottom pieces that goes under the convertable well molding would lock but nothing. Also, the buckle from the latch broke. I need to buy a new one. I've seen some metal ones.

I can be corrected, but depending on the model year... when one ordered a Speedster the Spyder package was also included.

Referencing the registry, 97-0240 doesn't show the Speedster package in the comments area for this particular Saleen. If that's the case and since it doesn't list a Spyder either, provisions for the Spyder kit would not be installed.

There are three top covers. The factory Ford boot/top cover. The soft Saleen Spyder cover and then the hard Speedster cover.

Hopes this casts some light on the matter.
