Greetings all. I'm looking to upgrade my PJ this coming spring. I've restored 3 classic Mustangs (69 Shelby GT-350, 70 Boss 302, 71 Mach 1), but this is my first foray into the new Mustangs, so I have a few questions since this car is obviously not as easy as tuning the Holley carb on the Mach 1, so.....

I've been debating about purchasing the Super Shaker for my PJ, but I'm torn between it & keeping it NA, just due to the fact that the PJ was built to represent the the Boss 302 Trans-Am which was NA. I'm wanting to add long tube headers & an x-pipe (specifically the ones offered by SLP that I read about in the December issue of MM&FF, just the headers & crossover not the entire performance pac), the C&L air intake, & purchasing an SCT Livewire programmer. Another item I've looked at/considered is a BBK GT500 twin 65mm throttle body as well.

Any thoughts/opinions on this is welcomed, as I said I just have zero experience with newer Mustangs.

Welcome PJ brother. I am debating S/C myself for the same reasons you state. I would go with Kooks (http://www.kookscustomheaders.com/category.php?cname=Headers&sname=Ford&pname=2005-2008%204.6%203V%20GT/%20Saleen) Headers.

I would contact JDM. They know Saleens and how to make power. They are driving distance to you.

Here is one crazy PJ they built.

Currently, I am running Bassani L/T Ceramic Headers with X-Pipes w/Cats, C&L Racer CAI, one piece MMR Aluminum Driveshaft and SCT 93 Octane Custom Tune.

Tomorrow 1/6 JDM is picking up my PJ to install a SuperShaker, upgrade the SCT Tune and Dyno.

I checked in the "Super PJ" thread & saw that you were able to get 40 more RWHP above stock with that set up...very, very impressive. As far as the SCT 93 tune, it saves the Powerflash setup & installs that tune correct? And also, did you dyno that after the SCT tune or just going by what the Livewire was telling you?

Correct. My first dyno (3 pulls) was 320sRWHP after all the performance mods including SCT the pulls range from 359 - 364RWHP.

Hopefully with the SuperShaker system and tune tweaking it will be around 475RWHP.

Sticking with the NA mods here is what id do...

Custom SCT tune (by JDM!)
C&L Racer air intake
C&L intake manifold
GT500 throttle body
39lb injectors
Kooks Longtube headers and catted X pipe
Aluminum driveshaft

This would be one bad *** NA setup! Id be willing to bet you can gain 70 RWHP with these mods. Taking you to around 400 RWHP NA!!! Its kinda similar to my car except the cams and compression im running. Im at 405 RWHP via an automatic!

Hey Jim
I have added the first three on your list. Now would I have to get a new tune from you if I get the 39lb injectors and gt500 TB?

Any thoughts on the C&L intake manifold? would it be worth it on a pj with my mods?

I wish I could get long tubes in CA:frown:

OK Jim...you sold me. Only problem is that your a bit far for me to come out to for the custom tune. Send me a PM about prices on the Kooks & the driveshaft. I see the price of the injectors on your website. Any word on how soon the C&L intake will be available?

You would definatley need a tune for those parts and yes i can offer one for you! The email tunes are $180. Im going to test the C&L manifold on my car coming very soon and ill share my results with you guys! I really think its going to be worth about 25 RWHP for the PJ cars!!! That can get you 400 RWHP NA!
