I think they were 97's. I know the gunmetal black car was in the catalog, and I have seen the white car that the shows in Irvine. I should have taken pictures of them. Anyone have pictures of these cars? From what I heard back then.....the black one had a 351 vortech and the white car was a 414ci w/ yates heads. They were freakin awesome.

This one is not the same one - this is the 2000 SR - hence the air induction on the roof -

the first pics are the original s351 sr widebody. saleen use to sell the parts back then 1996-97 98, but 99-2000 the new sr debut'd. the SR widebodys are super rare. and was original viper killers. starting cost of the cars was 68 grand all the way up too 100 grand with special speedlab options. and normally had the big F-18hornet like rear wing.

It looks like the tail end of the black SR widebody was caught in that picture, almost twins to the white SR.

Hey a few shots I have not seen before. Now Greg a car is for sale when the owner prices it such that it will actually sell. That rainbow one is priced way up there that it is now in a territory that might be actually at the end of the rainbow. Keep the pics coming fellows.

I wonder if it is titled in such a way that you can put a motor in it and actually drive it?

The rainbow wide body was built off an earlier chasis, 94 maybe? So yes it should have a regular title on the car! Would be street legal UNLESS they removed the vin plate for some reason!

Do you have a point of contact for the seller?

Adam is correct tht it is based off of 95-0004. That however doesn't necessarily mean it has a title. Saleen notoriously sold a lot of these rollers on bill of sale with no title and no drivetrain so that there was no liability carried forth. It may be able to get a title again but I am not sure of the hassles.

Doesn't matter much, the owner has it priced in the same terrirtory with no drivetrain in it as a low mileage used Ferrari Challenge Stradale that has everything with it. At that price, he will have it forever. One of the trips I have planned with work up to Nor-Cal, I will try to hook up with him and take a few pictures and look through the car thouroughly. No one knows if the wiring harness and computer, etc. are still in the car or how difficult it is to put the drivetrain in. Remember that it has a prototype IRS in the rear that has never been run. There are a million questions with that car. Cool? Yes! A winning situation? Only for the owner unless he comes back down to Earth and even then he still will be winning a little.

yeah its a shame it has never driven under its own power, it truly deserves to turn a tire in anger. life would be complete to see it powersliding through a corner. too cool of a car to vault up and put a silly tease of a price tag on it.
anyways some more pics i have floating around on my computer...

What's the count on the wide bodies? How many were actually built?

I remember a customer car, the white one above and the rainbow car. I don't remember ever seeing the black car from the catalog in person.

Does anyone have any info on this car or its 5 lug wheels? I know someone who has a set they may be willing to sell. Please pm me. They look EXACTLY like these wheels. They are 18x10 with made in Italy stickers on them. They are not center lug, they are 5 lug. Thank you!
