I bought a Saleen '94 gauge cluster this spring not thinking the speedo wouldn't have Km/h as well as mph markings. I assume it's the real deal as the part # is PMF4ZF-10849-CB. The GT part # is F4ZF-10849-CA. Is there any way of positively IDing the cluster as a Saleen part?

The only way I know to verify is to put it in the car and see if the MPH reading is accurate. Saleen had the only calibration for a 200 mph speedo in a SN95 car.

Please take and post a photo of what you have.

Saleen didn't put tags or identification on the clusters. There is no visual way to verify a 200 MPH cluster.

Still post a photo of what you purchased. So we can see if you were sold an original 1994-1998 S351 200 MPH cluster... or a 1999-2004 cluster... or something made by jr in the backyard.

Were they ALL 200 mph clusters? This is a 150 mph cluster and in addition to the "PM" prefix on the part number it has text that isn't on the cluster from my GT. It is identified as a SN95 5.0L cluster. The main wording differences are:

1. Mechanical Instrument Cluster
2. Altec - Made in Mexico
Neither of this is on the GT cluster.

I'll post pics of the sticker and back of the Saleen cluster later.

The 1994-98 S351 featured a 200 MPH cluster while the 1996-98 S281 (GT chassis cars) featured the 150 MPH version.

Your reply seems to indicate that the 150 mph 5.0l cluster is a hack.

Just to cash in my $.02 worth, but something does not seem to add up with that cluster, IMO. All 1994-1995 Saleens (with the exception of a few V6 Sports) were S-351 conversions (never a 302 powered Saleen after 1993). The gauge cluster reading 5.0L would indicate that the cluster was indeed out of a 1994-95 model, however, I am under the belief that all S-351s had 200mph clusters as Dave mentioned, so if the cluster in hand was indeed out of a 1994-1995 Saleen, it should read 200mph. Keep in mind that Saleen changed a few things out during the 1994 year, but if I am not mistaken, it was all cosmetic such as tail pipes, fascia materials, and screens. Hopefully I am wrong, and that possibly some very early S-351s had the 150s, but I don't think any were ever made.

You might have a cluster out of a 1994 or 1995 GT that somebody had put 1996-1998 S-281 gauge overlays on. If you decide to sell them, please let me know.

That is a stock GT cluster with the over-the-counter Saleen gauges faces added. All 94-95 Saleen clusters were 200 MPH.

I'm still puzzled by the part # PM prefix. Any explanation why it's there? The Ford part coding index indicates it should just start with F4ZF.

With parts you won't always have the same engineering number. What you see on the cluster is engineering numbers. They will often change even during the model year. They will also include internal numbers sometime that don't mean anythign to someone outside the assembly line.
