That looks like the standard Saleen shift knob

Still better than the white/round knob I have now. Looks like I'll have a little more leverage.... Hopefully it'll help the shifting, I don't like the way it shifts now. :frown:

No. You purchased an unwrapped 2006-2008 Saleen S-Series knob. Also used in the 2008-2009 Racecraft. I would not use this knob since it's unfinished without the leather wrap.

A better temporary fix would be to locate a 2008 H302 3-Valve knob. This is ball shaped with a 5-Speed gate pattern on the top.

This is a 6-Speed Dark Horse knob, ask if they have the 5-Speed Heritage version.

Here's a photo of the knob you purchased. This is the 2006-2008 Saleen Mustang S-Series version. The 2005 Saleen Mustang featured a solid alloy knob similar to the 2006-08 version, but without the indent for the leather wrap and vertical groove for the stitching.

Looks like PJ-209 has an aftermarket Hurst Shifter. You should be able to swap out the Hurst handle and white ball for an OE appearance. Or you can purchase a more subtle assembly from MGW LTD., Inc or Steeda. Lastly you can also go back to the original OE Ford assembly with the original Saleen short-throw shifter block.

Thanx for the info. I wonder why my shifter was replaced. Is the Hurst any better? The knob I recieved doesn't have the leather on it but has the groove/indent down the side for it...incomplete in other words. It doesn't fit the Hurst lever either. Too large of a threaded hole. I may possibly just look for a T-handle for the look of the original 70 Boss....

I have thought of replacing and storing the PJ shifter knob in the summer. The PJ knob gets very hot sitting in the sun.

I am looking for a 6 speed Heritage knob. I see the dark horse 6 speed knob, but i prefer the silver. Any ideas?

Speak with Michael Cooper at Found-A-Deal. They might still have the silver version, but not listed on eBay.

The Hurst unit is one step up the ladder from the OE Saleen short shifter block. Cosmetically the Hurst shifter recalls the 1960s-70s muscle era.

Quality wise... the MGW & Steeda Tri-Ax are said to be better shifters.

Don't really like the Saleen "short throw" shifter that comes stock in the PJ. We have a Hurst/Shelby in our Shelby GT, but am considering giving the Steeda Tri-Ax a try.

Does anyone know if the PJ shift knob is threaded the same as the stock shift knob?

The PJ shifter could have different threads.
I wanted te replace my Automatic Shifter bij a MachII shifter to regain the original look, but the threads in the knob are bigger than the MachII shifter

I bought a MGW shifter with standard Ford Mustang thread and the PJ shifter fit perfectly.
