Q: Recommandations for oil transmission?

Hi, I would like to change my oil transmission, so I'm looking for your advice for the right/best oil for my Extreme.
Thx

I’ve been told Syncromax by Royal Purple. I’ve never changed mine yet but that’s what I’m thinking of going with.

Thx for your response.
I've found some informations that Dexron 3 will be OK too...? I'm in France, and we don't have a Royal Purple distributor in Europe.
And Jason not really appreciate Royal Purple for engine, same for transmissions??

I’m sure that’s a good choice too. As for motor oil, I believe Mobile 1 synthetic is best and what everyone uses.

Just as a reminder....

The 2006-07 S281 Extreme came with a Holden Monaro / GM GTO sourced Borg-Warner T-56 transmission.

Hands down the best oil to use is GM (General Motors) Syncromesh oil that can be bought at any GM or Chevy Dealership.

In that case I’m gonna go with that on my 06 Extreme. 4 quarts I’ve been told is that correct?

No problem at all. You will notice a decent change in how well it smooths out the shifting.

Perfect 👌🏼 BTW ~ Jason what is your opinion on the Borg-Warner T-56 transmission? I haven’t done much research or ever done a thing with mine other than shift gears lol. Is it a quality built transmission to what’s out there in the world of transmissions? 🤷*♂️

I've never used them. I'm a diehard Tremec fan to be honest. I can even take a 3650 trans and make it handle 1100hp...so I stick with what I know is to be proven. If your looking for trans options, give me a call and we can discuss some solutions.

Sounds good! In that case, when or if my transmission blows up in pieces one day, I’ll bring it over to your shop and have you install a Tremec. I’m a Scottsdale resident so I’m about 5 hour drive away

You already have a Tremec, just a Pontiac GTO version. It was the best thing available at the time for a somewhat bolt in 6-speed trans for a Mustang. A basic GT500 trans would be much better if your not beating on it. Wait until you need a new clutch and the install is almost free!
