Spotted: Black & gold fox convertible in NJ
A little while ago saw a black vert drive by, top down. (I live in Jackson NJ).
Looked pretty amazing, been a while since I saw a vert in person.
Black with gold stripes.
Appeared to basket weaves (it was moving), although they looked to be a version larger than 16.
What I thought was more interesting was they were clearly halo headrests, but the interior appeared to be tan. It was hard to tell since it was moving.
Can't be too many in this color scheme, could it?
Regardless, was a nice sight.
Correct. The sand beige (tan) interior was offered from 1987-89. Compared to the smoke grey color, tan is a bit more uncommon.
There was a 1988 black/gold/tan convertible for sale in around Ohio a few years ago. 88-0147.
There was also 88-0501, black/gold/tan convertible for sale around the east coast for the past few years as well.
About 18 black paint / tan interior convertibles were produced from 1987-89.
#501 was an uncommon car. About three black paint / tan interior convertibles were equipped with the automatic transmission. This was one of them.
Vehicle is no longer an automatic though. Received a manual transmission swap 4-5 years ago.
