Gate opens at 8:00 a.m. and closes at 10:00 a.m. -- past that, you will have to creep in the exit and give me a call at 714-580-3572 so we can get you safely in your spot.

Parking for the event

Will there be ample parking for guests around the event?

Thanks

azlooker 09-15-2012 12:13 AM

There is usually lots of street parking near the site. If I remember right, there is also a parking lot that can be used nearby.

Broke down on the way, need to find a good local repair shop!

My car broke down in San Fernando at 1:30pm, after 8 hours of driving to the show. After trying to fix it (and being stranded at a few Auto Zones) we finally gave up and had it towed to Corona. Just got here at 3:30am!! So my car won't be in the event. We are looking for a local shop that will be open today (Saturday). Please let me know if you know of one. After we drop it off at the shop, we will come to the show anyway to check out the other cars. I'm so sad!! But hopefully we can get if fixed for the long drive back home. We were planning to drive home on Sunday.

Wow, what a day. Hope no one else had car troubles like me.

Broke down

Fungirl, can you tell us what it is doing?
It is likely that someone else has had a similar problem and may be able to point you in the right direction for finding a cure.

Volts started dropping quickly & was soon all the way in red. Barely made it to AutoZone on battery power only. Replaced alternator and headed down the road again. Same thing happened again within a few minutes. Barely made to next town. Replaced alternator again thinking maybe 1st one was bad. Samething happened again. AutoZone bench tested both alt's out of car and both read fine and at 13.8. But once put in the car, volt meter check shows a voltage regulator failure. And while in car, alt & battery read lower at 11.8. Thought maybe something was wrong with wiring so tried to bypass communication from alt to computer. Still same issues.

67fire 09-15-2012 02:01 PM

A bad ground? Clean them.
A grounding hot lead? Check that your positive wire isn't rubbing through on the frame, etc.

Fungirl, i had the same issue with my Saleen. I went through a few alternators from autozone and had the same issue. I gave Jason at 281 a call and well long story short he orderd a stock ford alternator and till this day no issues at all. So my suggestion is get a stock alternator.

Interesting. I just dropped it off at a shop in Corona. If he can't figure it out, I'll suggest a stock Ford alternator. I have never replaced it before so I'm assuming I already had a stock Ford alternator in my car yesterday, before all this started. So what do think about how your (and my) issue started in the first place, (assuming we already had a stock Ford alternator)?

Great idea! I assume that the shop will check this out. I'll suggest it when I check in with them. If they can't fix it for me today, I'll take it to 281.

Thanks,
Tammii

fungirl 09-15-2012 04:04 PM

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions an concern. One thing I forgot to mention is on our long 9 hour trip to get here, we hit a few big bumps in the road due to road construction. It's very possible that it knocked something loose, shorted something out, etc. Anyway, we'll get it figured out.

On a positive note, we're getting ready to head down to the show!

Thanks again,
Tammii

Well, as we all know alternators go bad. What i really meant to say was get an OE ford alternator for some reason my 07 was not wanting that autozone alternator.
