New Owner of #501 with engine question

Group,

This car came to me with a number of extras which included a binder of build information that Saleen used during the conversion process in their shop. One sheet with handwritten notes listed the changes to be made to this car, last of the PJ's. One item notes that the engine was to be equipped with Ernie Elliott heads. They're are painted a medium blue color with the Saleen name in black on each head.

I've searched on line but I can't seem to uncover any information about these heads. Can any of help enlighten me?

Also, I had the car into the local Ford dealer today for the passenger air bag recall (driver's side had already been done some time ago). They let me look over the tech's shoulder while he was doing the changeout. it was quite interesting as I've never messed with air bags and, according to his play-by-play description, the replacement is much safer should it happen to discharge. I recommend that everyone have this recall taken care of if they haven't already done so.

Good evening,
Richard

Hi Richard,

The Ernie Elliott CNC heads are a standard feature on the S281 Extreme and S302 Extreme. Folklore once said these heads were planned for the S302 PJ as well, but it was decided to not install Elliott heads on the PJ.

It was once said the PJ engine line gave these cars a slight head cleaning instead of the CNC version, but that is more folklore.

Hi Dave, thanks for the response. So, is there any way that I can tell if #501 is equipped with Ernie Elliott heads? I don't know that it matters to me much one way or the other, but the valve covers on my car certainly look different than those I've seen in pictures of other PJ cars.

Richard
