Steve at Carlisle 2018

I looked at Carlisle's website and they have it that Steve Saleen will be there. I hope this is right. I would like to get my car signed.

Firehead 01-28-2018 10:48 PM

He will be. They are bringing the big rig full of cars. I have confirmed this with Amy.

MEET STEVE SALEEN OF SALEEN AUTOMOTIVE
Hall of Famer Comes to Carlisle During Ford Weekend

A very popular name within automotive circles is coming to Carlisle courtesy of Saleen Automotive. Steve Saleen was born in California and attended USC, earning a degree in business. He parlayed his education into a booming career that saw him work with the Porsche Owners Club before becoming a competitive racer. In 1980, he entered the Formula Atlantic series and was third in the final series standings. After that, he advanced to the SCCA Trans-Am series in '82, driving a Ford Mustang. From there, his passion for the Mustang grew immensely, culminating with the founding of Saleen Autosport in 1983 and subsequent building of the first Saleen Mustang.

In 1984, the car was completed, tested and raced against some of the world's top cars, finishing first in its class at the Mosport 24 hour endurance race. Years later, Saleen formed a race team with comedian Tim Allen and driver Bob Bondurant. The three raced Saleen Mustangs in the SCAA World Challenge. Inducted into the Mustang Hall of Fame in 1996 along side Carroll Shelby, Saleen remains active today, primarily with his namesake company, Saleen Inc.

Since establishing Saleen Automotive, the company has gone on to build countless Mustangs and Ford products. Saleen cars and trucks are seen as one of the top brands in the Ford market. Saleen also had a hand in the 2005-2006 Ford GT cars. Don't miss out as Steve Saleen meets and greets with enthusiasts and does an autograph signing or two. Steve Saleen will be located in the Saleen Automotive booth located near the stage. Appearance and Autograph times are still to be announced so follow this page and our Carlisle Ford Nationals Facebook page.

Don't miss a chance to meet Steve Saleen at Carlisle in 2018!
Attached is the proposed 2018 Snowfield Map.

I would not expect there to be a Saleen Owners and Enthusiasts Club tent this year. If you've registered under SOEC for the Carlisle Ford event, you can use the Saleen Automotive tent... as of this posting.

For Saleen Club of America (SCOA) registrants, see Lee Reese to receive Ford Nationals event updates and planning details.

Greg Wackett 01-29-2018 10:23 PM

I agree with Dave we will not set up a SOEC tent this year but will be there.

ImThatGuy 03-09-2018 11:06 AM

I hope that I can go this year, would love to bring my S351

It’d be great to see it there. I’ve been shopping for a nice coupe for years, but you never see them, for sale or otherwise.

Dagenham 03-10-2018 03:28 PM

I cant wait. I had to change the car I was taking anyway and I should have 85-132 back together and running by then. I would like to get the car autographed.

Specracer 03-10-2018 07:30 PM

As of today, 50 days for "gate n go".

Steve and Dave Kindig are the featured people so far.

Greg Wackett 03-11-2018 07:54 AM

About half of the Saleen spots are reserve so get you space so you can be with us.

Dagenham 03-25-2018 09:27 AM

Greg, what do you mean by reserved? I have my Saleen registered in the 84-93 class. But that's it. Also I am not a member of SCOA or SOEC. Forgive me.

Greg Wackett 03-25-2018 09:31 AM

Sean and Amy worked with Carlisle to save 120 space for people who registered with a Saleen Vehicle so we could all be together. If you marked Saleen on your registration form you should be good. You do not need to be a member to list either or both clubs. Hope this helps

Dagenham 03-25-2018 11:05 AM

Thank you. Just needed clarification.

Bring very comfy walking shoes, lots of money, shorts, and a jacket(I have used both in the same weekend) and good if you can. The good vendors can be a little pricey IMHO.

Thanks!! Appreciate the advice!

Show is VERY large, something like 3000 cars. Swap area feels just as large (its not, but its also huge). Over the years there are many more close hotels have opened, but the close rooms are a premium (Hampton is $180 if I recall). More reasonable options can be found in Mechanicsberg which is about 25min up the road. We have stayed both close, and in Mechanicberg. Just my 2c

Thanks Specracer! I was going to look at hotels today so this info will help out a lot!

And if past years are any indication, bring an umbrella

A few quick details:
  • For those that pre-registered, Carlisle Events handles your show-entry credentials and mailing these documents to you.

  • Saleen vehicle parking is arranged by Carlisle Events. Vehicles are group by class / generation / model.

  • Parking is first come, first serve. Meaning... you may have been the first person to register your vehicle for the show, but if you decide to enter the gate at 11 AM... don't be outraged if you don't have a parking spot.

  • Yes, bring a parka or poncho... it does rain.

Saleen Forums Admin 05-03-2018 01:13 PM

A few more notes... this 2018 event will see changes when compared to past years.
  • We will not have a SOEC tent – We were approached by Saleen Automotive to join them and Team Saleen with their plans and festivities during the 2018 Carlisle Ford Nationals.

  • You are invited and welcomed to participate in any or all of the Saleen Automotive / Team Saleen engagements.

We are still a recognized Participating Club with Carlisle Events. Lacking a central tent or designated area does not mean we’re not there.

For those registering at the gate, state "Saleen Owners and Enthusiasts Club" as your group -- whether you are a member or not, by choosing "Saleen Owners and Enthusiasts Club" it helps us help you have a better experience at future Carlisle Ford shows!

What does Saleen Automotive & Team Saleen have planned for this event? As of this posting we do not know.

First time attending

07-179 will be there, pre-registered and hotel in hand. First time. Any hints other than weather related?

Dagenham 05-19-2018 07:09 AM

Wear very comfy walking shoes there is a lot of walking to do and things to see. Bring lots of money too. There's always lots of stuff you will want to buy. The food is ok but really overpriced. It's almost impossible to for two people to eat lunch for less than $20 and that's just a burger or sausage and a cup full of ice and a few drops of soda. I usually bring my own.

Specracer 05-21-2018 07:39 AM

On food, a stand to consider, is under the bleachers farthest stand to the right, there is a sandwich stand with FANTASTIC ham and swiss sandwiches (fresh super thin sliced ham). Yes sounds ho hum, but to me, its the best thing at Carlisle. Sunday morning we even go there, buy a half dozen for the ride home (there are 4 of us). Also inside the building with the Carlisle merch, has been a hand rolled pretzel that is also VERY good.

Dagenham 05-21-2018 11:44 AM

That same food stand has ham, Swiss cheese, and egg sandwiches in the morning for breakfast. We usually get them at least once during the weekend.

CAPTAIN 05-27-2018 11:50 AM

Anyone know if there will be any Saleen Ranger Sport Trucks in attendance?
I’m really wanting to see one in person.

Dagenham 05-28-2018 08:48 AM

Ok I just saw the forecast for this week and it wasnt the best. As of now it looks like a chance of rain every day. I don't think it's going to be constantly but it looks like you better bring rain gear.
This wasnt from the weather channel either. This is the local news. I only live half an hour away from the Carlisle fairgrounds.

Specracer 05-30-2018 06:20 AM

Well we will go anyway. Makes the deployment of the tonneau more tricky.

00CobraR 05-30-2018 02:18 PM

Every year I’ve been, it’s seeningly rained for at least a portion of the event. I’m my opinion, it doesn’t dampen the experience at all. It’s certainly one of the better events if the season, regardless of weather conditions.

07S281SC111 06-01-2018 09:25 AM

Carlisle shows that Steve will be there to sign today at 11AM. Does anyone know if he will be there tomorrow as well?

Thanks...

Dagenham 06-01-2018 06:51 PM

Yes. But I forget the times. I think 11am and 3 pm

Specracer 06-04-2018 05:59 AM

What a great weekend. Zero rain during the show.
