SOEC Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Sweepstakes Give-a-ways

This October, Saleen Owners and Enthusiasts Club (SOEC) is proud to participate in National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer is one of the most common kinds of cancer in women after skin cancer. About 1 in 8 women born today in the United States will get breast cancer at some point.

This month, the SOEC will be honoring and featuring the women of Saleen. In their honor and to highlight the importance of awareness, prevention, and early detection, we will be holding several sweepstakes throughout October. The SOEC will be giving away (for free) Saleen posters, SOEC Club decals, and a 2019 Saleen Open House & Car Show registrant bag. Look for our featured woman of Saleen, which will begin a new sweepstakes.

We hope that you get involved and make a donation to one of the registered 501(c)(3), breast cancer charities.

Rules of Sweepstakes:

• Sweepstakes will take place on https://www.facebook.com/groups/saleenclub/
• The entry of sweepstakes will be a photo of your Saleen vehicle, tribute Saleen vehicle, Saleen merchandise/memorabilia/part, or pink ribbon. One entry per sweepstakes. A participant’s posting in the currently active sweepstakes will be the participant’s entry number.
• Winners will be selected utilizing Google’s random number generator (RNG). Minimum and Maximum will be set according to the number of entrants.
• A special guest judge may also be used, but not an addition to the RNG, to select winning entries based upon a photo’s creativity and originality.
• Winners will be required to submit a shipping address to receive prize
• ntrants may only win one (1) poster or one (1) Team Saleen bag and not both. Decals are unlimited.
• SOEC will not be responsible for items lost or damaged by USPS.
• All items were donated to SOEC and there are no replacements in physical or monetary value.
• International entrants are welcome however duty and customs fees and taxes (if) incurred will be paid for by the entrant.

Our next featured woman of Saleen has an international background growing up and going to school in Beruit, Hamburg, and Amsterdam, just to name a few. Our next featured woman of Saleen is Martina Kwan who is an S1, Saleen Cup Series driver. She is also a 2-time, Championship Porsche 911 racecar driver with Porsche Owners Club in Southern California. She has a love for riding horses as she does driving racecars. When she gets ready to race she often reflects upon a quote from Bruce Lee, "Be like water, my friend."

Our next featured woman of Saleen was a part of an all-woman team for Saleen in the ’80s. If you think there are few women racecar drivers today, there were much fewer 30 years ago. To honor this woman of Saleen, we will be giving away a 30th Anniversary poster, a pink ribbon SOEC decal, and a vintage SOEC decal.

Fact: About 2,670 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in men in 2019. A man’s lifetime risk of breast cancer is about 1 in 883. (www.breastcancer.org)

Our next featured woman of Saleen is Lisa Caceres, former racecar driver for Saleen Autosport. In 1987 Saleen entered the SCCA Escort Endurance Series with a three-car team, winning the Team, Manufacturer and Tire championships. This included an all-female driving team that included Lisa Caceres in the #20 racecar. Other drivers for Saleen Autosport included Steve Saleen, George Follmer, Rick Titus, Parnelli Jones, and Desire Wilson. While she raced sports cars and saloons in the USA, Caceres was also a deputy sheriff who posed as a decoy, lone-hiker in an attempt to capture serial killer David Carpenter, aka the Trailside Killer.

Our final featured woman of Saleen is Molly Saleen. She grew up in the fast lane of the automotive and racing world becoming a racecar driver in her own right. A graduate University of Southern Cal (her father’s alma mater), today she is an S1 Saleen Cup driver, President of Saleen Performance Parts and talk show host of Drivers Talk. Most importantly she is a wife, a mother, a sister and the daughter of Steve and Liz Saleen.

Nothing but respect and affection for this forum. It's great to see that this forum is more than just cars. Breast cancer awareness is a very serious issue, my grandmother had breast cancer 5 years ago and I know how hard it is. Thanks to all who are being a part of this!
