I would expect the original equipment plastic vents to be available again sometime this year.

So who got these mesh vents and would like to sell their OEM plastic vents? I need one, just got an extreme Hood from Hard Core Muscle and need the Hood vents until they are complete in carbon fiber version. Ill post pictures up later tonight.

I just bought two new ones from Saleen thinking they were aluminum, since thats what it says on their website, but they are plastic. If these tabs break I will drill them out and fix. Theres no way Im spending anymore money on hood vents.

That's kind of funny.. The way they describe it is pretty dumb, for those of us that know it's an aluminum hood it makes sense but they really think everyone knows that.. Should state: Vents for aluminum hood not aluminum hood vents!

I just need a temporary set until the carbon fiber vents are complete, they are a ***** to produce, have to make them in 6 different pieces and put them together. I don't want to end up spending too much on plastic hood vents that supposedly break easily.

I would run the car without hood vents and then purchase the carbon versions you really want when available. This seems more logical.

The car is coming out of the body shop tomorrow with no vents and i will install the mesh when they come in, thanks 281 Motorsports for that set by the way! As long as the body shop gives them back to me which they should I can help you out. I'll let you know by tomorrow or Sat.

Get a drill bit slightly smaller than the hole on the hood vent mounting tab. Then drill through it out the top of the grille. Use a small countersink drill bit and go through the top of the grill just enough to seat your button head bolt in the plastic. Take the small black button head bolt, nut and washer and "through" bolt it to the hood.

Works like a charm.
Do you have any pictures of this method complete?

Well I guess this eventually happens to us all. My passenger side vent broke today. Used 8/32" counter-sunk stainless bolts with a nylon nut and painted the head black with touch-up paint.

Barricade mentioned the rust from the alloys. Yep, since a while back they got disturbing. I found McMaster-Carr with a stainless black oxide. All I did was replace the Ace alloys for the McMaster black stainless today. Still 10 x 24 1.5in. button head with a hex. I used four for just the fronts. The pack was fifty so I have way many. The 50 pack was about $10 so worth the try. Prod 97763A339 they call it rounded head. The car is mostly under cover so I cannot evaluate standing up to washing but that's what stainless is for. If anyone wants some ping me so I don't have to eat the shipping (small as it may be). Jason281, if you're team wants them we can figure that out too. Dang, I am so psyched to have this settled. 07 SC auto still fun with seeing Shelby GT350 flat planes driving around. The newer vents sure would be sweet but this is getting to be a proper fix.

Good find. At $9 for 50 I may just order a pack.

I appreciate that, but we make our own aluminum "BAD A$$" hood vents, so we sell those.

Thanks for the tip. My LH hood vent just broke. Lasted 173k miles and 13 years.

We are taking pre-orders for our vents. Once we reach our minimum we will produce a batch.

Guys and gals quit paying Saleen for those cheap *** hood vents. I went through 4 sets and that was when they were like $60 each until I saw the light and order a set from Jason at 281 Motorsports. I can personally vouch for the quality workmanship and fit. These are hand made, aluminum, cool *** design, and are solid and will not break. They require a couple washers underneath to properly space but the install is very easy. The craftsmanship and welds are spot on and the vents are powder coated to boot. Think what you have spent on vents already and realize that Jason's vents are fairly priced considering the quality of the product. I attached pictures. Please excuse the quality of my hood paint. My car has over 246,000 original miles on it and is heading to the paint shop after I get my tax return. Be smart not cheap. Jason's hood vents are the type of quality that should have been put on the car in the first place. You can thank me later people.

Thanks Jason. Although very nice and exceptionally well made I'm on the fence with them. I would prefer the mesh style that has the Saleen logo, although I could do without the logo. Would you entertain the idea of making those? It's just too expensive to fabricate one as I've checked around here in NC at a few custom places. Once you have the plans it looks like it'll be easier to make them than the ones you originally made?

Hope all is well in CA and that 2020 is a healthy year for you.
