Howdy all! After more than 20 Mustangs of all kinds, I have a fox Saleen! It is completely factory stock, all the way down to the air silencer! Anyway, time to start the journey to restore her. She is in great shape, just 25 yrs old, and needs a little tlc! I would like to replace the 3 bar stripes with the 9 bar stripes and update the wheels to Stern/Speedline.

Very Nice Score! The 9 stripe side stripes will update the look as well as the Stern/Speedlines. Keep us posted with pics as the changes take place.

Congratulations with your purchase! Looks very clean and original.

I would consider keeping the tri-stripes. It is a unique carryover for early 1989 Saleen Mustangs.

Enjoy the hobby!

Congrats on the new Saleen, she looks amazing! It's great that you were able to find such an original example, that's what everyone wants. If I was you I would keep the tri-colored stripes, as opposed to switching to the later style. Personally I think they look a lot better, and they are correct for the car. I would also keep the mesh wheels (if it was me), but switching wheels is easily reversible so that one isn't as critical as the graphics.

In the end you have to do what makes you happy, I'm just a fan of keeping these cars original (especially if the change isn't easily reversible). Keep us posted on what you do and have fun with the new car. It really is amazing...and I'm jealous!

Default New side stripes are on! 89-0043 looking good

I installed the new 9 bar stripes. Now I need to recover the seats, find some stern/speedline/hre 525 wheels and she will be complete! Does anyone know what to do if you don't have the code to the radio? I sent a pioneer an email and the said you have to replace the security chip.

We only painted the aero kit. The rest of the car looked good. The front was not pretty.

Default Radio code

Try 666 or 6666. It was along time ago but that is what my code was on my 89.
Good luck
Mike
