Thumbs down Thumping noise - ideas???

Hey everyone I am new here and also the proud owner of a 06' s281 #594
I went out for a short drive tonight to stretch my Saleens legs, I think I might
have stretched them to much. When under moderarate or above acceleration I hear a thumping sound right as I release the clutch. The noise seems to be mostly in 1st to 3rd gear. Does this sound like a broken motor mount or transmission mount. Has anyone out there had this problem.
Thanks
DP

smoothride,

Welcome to the Saleen Forums!

Could be a suspension issue as indicated in Saleen Technical Bulletin 06-009 "Knocking Noise from Front End."

While the Technical Bulletin indicates it may make a knocking noise going over bumps, depending on how smoothly you let up the clutch, it may be possible you are creating the same noise.

You might also check the other documents in the TSB section just in case your Saleen may be suffering from any other maladies.

I'm thinkin' the same thing as Jim, could sound like a strurt mount pop or the bolts at the top of the sway bar link at the strut would have worked thier way loose.
