Default invisible mask

I used the clear film for my headlights but this company offers it in a smoke if like.

I did my headlights and circular turn signals with the headlight armor 30% film. http://www.headlightarmor.com/. They were the only company I could find that offered film for the circular turn signals. If I were to do it again, I'd do the 50% on my headlights and 30% on the turns. Even though they are the Saleen HID's it is still tuff to see at night with the 30%.

For my tails I tinted them with VHT niteshades and unless you are willing to spend a day painting, wet-sanding, and buffing to get the lights perfect, then buy the film. The film is to cheap and easy to use compared to VHT. Save yourself the trouble and buy the film.

Keep a close eye on those HIDs. I have seen on some cars where the lens is melting.

On OEM HID's? I've seen it happen with the regular lens and 55w HID kits but not the Ford or Saleen HID's.

That could be, but it was enough of a scare to keep me away.

While I think it looks cool I wouldnt do it.

Dont sacrafice safety. I want people to know Im braking and I want to see
whats in front of me. Even a partial second's advance warning at speed makes a big difference.

But hey......I DO think it looks cool. But not on my car. lol

Although I love the look, I definitely wouldn't use the tail light or head light covers again. The sloppy fit of the covers has rubbed the paint off the bumper which I should have foreseen when I first installed them. As for the third brake light and rear markers, I used that VHT nightshades. I used a prep solvent to get any oils off and sprayed 2 or 3 light coats. Both came out glossy and even though they appear extremely dark, it's hard to tell they are tinted at night with the lights on.

I really like the look! How did you apply the VHT? Did you have to remove the lens from the car?

Thanks! I did remove the lenses simply to avoid over spray. Nothing to it.

Did you do any wet sanding or anything?

Here is a progression of my tails and the youtube videos I followed. I do recommend using a few coats of clear. Also I would do two/three heavy coats of vht and wetsand those coats down to level out the finish before the clear. Wetsanding the vht coat would also lighten up the tint if you think its too dark. This also helps avoid orange peel when you start laying down the clear. I also wetsanded in between clear coats so the coats would lay down evenly. In the first two photos I did two "light" coats of vht and it didn't turn out very good on the clear reverse parts of the tails, it left a lot of speckles and it could be easily noticed. So I ended up adding a third HEAVY coat to remove the speckles. If I were to do it again, I'd tape off the clear parts of the tails so I still had reverse lights.

XxBoostinxX, glad you mentioned, I did clear them as well. I've seen people use this product and it was quick and easy and looked great. I've seen other people use it and it looked like they spray painted their lenses with flat black.

Yeah, I have noticed that as well. Its weird isn't it? I think clearing them helps with the longevity of the lens. So you aren't removing them in a year and redoing it all over again.
