Default Q: Ordering custom paint colors?

Is there a standard base car color that Saleen uses when you order a custom color.

I'm interested in ordering a 2015 painted Mariblue.

Depends.

There is typically a list of recommended OE chassis colors for the associated Saleen custom colors.

Example:
Laser Red OE color chassis / Lizstick Red custom color

This was typically done to make the color change easier and/or to not repaint the engine compartment.

It would be best to contact Saleen directly to seek their advice on what should be ordered.

From what we gathered...

The 2006 550 Legacy Gulf car was a 'TL - Silver' chassis. Car 06-152E. This was exported.

With regards to the 2007 Legacy Gulf cars...

07-0002E was a 'Windveil Blue' chassis.

07-0021E was 'UA - Black' chassis.

07-0048E was 'TL - Silver' chassis.

07-0049E was 'TL - Silver' chassis.

Check it out and see if the above is correct. Let me know.

Yes, I need to find something better to do with my time. I need a new hobby.

My father owns 07-48 and, briefly, 07-49. When we were acquiring the letters of authenticity, the girl (Mikayla I believe?) said that both had started life in black. Either way, they are great looking cars in their current livery.

As of today, 07-02 in in PA, 07-48 is in IL, and 07-49 is in ND. Interestingly enough, 07-49 was sent to Puerto Rico for the better part of its life before returning to the U.S. recently.

My 2015 Black Label is in production right now. I opted for the Maliblue paint (I'll share pictures once I get it). Mine started life as Deep Impact Blue. I asked them to order the blue one in case I changed my mind on the custom paint.

It doesn't matter what the original color is. They tear it down _completely_ for paint. _Everything_ gets repainted. If you look at the engine bay on the show model from last month compared to a normal GT, you can see that they blacked out some of the previously colored parts.

I've been to the factory a couple times now, I asked the sales manager this question previously.

The George Follmer Editions starts life as factory Race Red. During their open house last year they had something like 30 of them ready for production.

Congratulations on your purchase! Your vehicle may be the first Maliblue car.

Congratulations on the order mikeberg! I bet Mailblue is a stunning color! In November you posted that you were quoted a late January or February delivery. Your post from mid-April said your new car was in production at that time. Has it been delivered yet? Sure would love to see a picture of it!

Hey there.

I just got word that my Black Label is scheduled to be complete the week of July 6th.

Lots of delays (pushed back reveal date, brake supply issues, who knows what else). But very soon now I'll be able to share some pictures.

I see you guys are experiencing the same problem I am. I ordered my yellow label car first week in April and they said it was 4-6 weeks.....and now it is "will ship next week" for about two months. Very very frustrating

Anyone that ordered a 1989 SSC, or a 1992 or 1994 Saleen Mustang, or a 2005 Supercharged car, or a 2006 Extreme went through a similar wait.

It was not unusual for certification of 1996-1999 S351s to run behind schedule as well. Creating a log vehicles.

This is not unusual.

Default Ordering new Saleen Mustang

Let me start by saying that I am truly excited and hopeful that Saleen will deliver my car. It will be the one of a kind mustang that I've wanted since I was 16. This has been my dream car for 2 decades.

I understand that with a new model mustang, extra time is required to engineer a new product. Delays were expected and they weren't a big deal.

The problem isn't with the delays themselves (usual or not).

As was discussed in the locked thread, it's not just that the vehicles are taking a long time, it's that the communication from Saleen has been horrendous. Since March (even before) I've been given no less than 5 delivery dates. Excluding the latest one ("by the anniversary"), they have all been missed. We have been routinely strung along with the promise of "next week" or "in two weeks" or, my favorite, "second week of August, worst case." These are quotes, from Saleen, about when my vehicle would be done.

We were also told that customer orders (my order was made in November, when they received my base Mustang) were bumped so the could fill some "large" china order. This was told to me and others by Derek.

The lack of transparency, being strung along, not taking my calls, not returning my voice mails, and abusing their relationship with me as a customer (who has paid them 1/2 upfront, a total that exceeds their reported cash balances, which is another topic) has seriously soured me to the brand and it's unfortunate.

For anyone else who wants to order a new Saleen, good luck, I hope you have a better experience. So far, mine has not been worth the price of admission.

White Pearl would be the easiest color to change to. Both you and Saleen could elect to not paint the engine compartment.

Orange County and ChromeMolly would require a complete dismantling of your car.

Best to talk this over with the Saleen staff. They can change any color chassis and have in the past.

Ordering a black car would have been the best basis color to have, for the engine compartment ease.

I did have Saleen tell me if there was a custom color I wanted they can do it. I'm sure not cheap but if have one with a 'only one color' then it would be unique

I ordered a 2016 S302 White Label on Dec 16, 2015. Took delivery April 16, 2016. I understand that White labels are going much quicker than Yellow or Black labels. Had delivery delays as well but was due to supplier part defects. All in all, satisfied with entire process. Patience is a virtue ;-)
