Default Q: Do I need an UD or Idler Pulley?

Hey gents whats going on,

I am somewhat of a newb with this kind of stuff so please bear with me. About 6 months ago I put bbk long tubes, bbk catted h-pipe, tunable inductions CAI, accufab TB and sct MAF on my whip with a tune for 351 RWHP. My car already had a Reichard Racing pulley with a 2.600 diameter when i purchased it.
I was told after I got it tuned that it did not need an idler or under drive pulley because it would make the belt spin too fast and as a result I would lose power.
My goal is to reach 400 RWHP. Can anyone elaborate on this? Also any suggestions? Please keep responses simple. I am in the learning phase. Thank for your patience and knowledge.

-Chris

Does your car have a built motor (forged internals)?

What year car do you have? Which supercharger is it? Series 1? Series 2?

If you're not sure then post a picture and we can tell you which one.

The person that told you info is correct. Underdrive pulleys shouldn't be put on supercharged applications.

Quite honestly, 350ish RWHP is the max I would recommend going. You can push that limit but your only asking for trouble.

You have an Eaton M90 (called the series II) supercharger on your car. With that supercharger you'll be hard pressed to get to 400 rwhp without throwing a lot of money at it. (by a lot of money I'm talking roughly the same amount of money you would need to go buy a new kenne bell supercharger and install it. it would would cost ~$5-6k and would also yield you 400 rwhp).

I'm at 400 (also with the series II) and in order to get there I had to redo the entire intake side (tork tech), new intercooler, heat exchanger, fuel pump, supertank injectors, mass airflow meter, smaller pulley and tune.
