Hi and welcome to THE Saleen Forums @ SOEC.org! That's a pretty 2004 Speedster, orange? Uncommon.

The best way to increase tone for the fewest dollars would be to change the Ford OE H-pipe.

Hi, I have a 2004 Saleen with 29k on the clock and the sound the exhaust is making is getting louder and louder, I think it’s just breaking in. If you only have 3k on your car give it a little time and it will sound different as time goes on. Also when you’re on the gas the car comes alive and makes a completely different sound. It’s much louder, have someone standing outside your car as you drive by giving it some gas and they will tell you how great it sounds. Also if you change your exhaust you will need a tune.
ps:your car looks sweet...nice ride I think the best looking saleens are from 1999 to 2004 good choice

I have the center exhaust on my 2001 and it does get louder as it gets more miles on it. When you get on the gas it does sound awesome, especially when you go through tunnels or under the freeway over passes. If you do change your exhaust you don't have to get a new tune. I have changed mine a couple of times and never needed a new tune.

I would change the mid-pipe from the stock 4 cat H-pipe to one an aftermarket unit (X or H) with highflow cats.

That would improve the sound along with some power.

Im sure someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I had a 2000 GT that was Performace Red, looked orange in photos and at night in certain lights, my favorite color other than Liztick red. Im pretty sure that car is performace red the only orange I remember in tangerine and it was alot more orange than that car. Beautiful Speedster and GREAT find!!! I would love to have that car.

Hi- you may not need to retune your car after you change your exhaust but if you do you will find HP. Each time you change something on one of the newer cars you should retune. That’s why it’s good to have most of your parts changed at the same time (save your parts up). The newer cars are so precisely tuned that the slightest change can reduce HP and that is what we don’t wont.

True on your comments there, I have to agree that some parts you do add will take HP or add HP, but I changed the cat back a couple of times. There was not enough HP change to offset the cost of having it tuned and on the dyno.

No, it just came with the stock GT brakes. Might have been able to get it as a upgrade though. I don't think you would need to upgrade with the power that it was pushing naturally, only 265hp.

Lazer red, that car looks great, again nice choice on the year. Like I said my car is an 04 and I get people everyday asking me questions about my car. Yesterday I had a guy in a z06 vet tell me how great my car looked.

Lazer Red is a great looking red in my opinion, at least until it gets that fade going on. The factory sprays it so thin that it fade in the sun after a couple of years.

Option on the N/As. Brembos became standard on the S281 S/Cs in 2004.

Performance Red was offered in 1999 (35th Anniversary Edition) and from 2000-01. Torch Red was the replacement.
