Default Saleen Vs. Roush on road & track - Better handling?

OK I am not trying to start anything here but in the near feature i am going to be buying a car. I would prefer a saleen on the looks side of things but am wanting a car that handles great like a corvette. I know I should not compare to a corvette but it is tough to beat for the money now days so here is what i want to know - what car handles better, a roush or a saleen and what could i do to make them handle better.

There is a heavy emphasis on being a good driver. I look at a vette as a plug and play car, most anyone can get in it and drive well because the balance is very good with very little roll. You can compete with a vette but you will definately need to work on suspension, and you will have to know the way the car twitches very well.

Good video comparo, Dave.

I was a little surprised the Roush beat the Saleen like it did, especially since the Saleen easily had the Roush on paper.

It really makes me wonder if the numbers are correct.

The other thing that came to mind was the unsprung weight and rotational inertia of the large chrome 20s the Saleen was sporting.

I'd like to see how the Saleen would do with some lightweight forged wheels.

One thing to keep in mind... Valvoline creates a line of Roush motor oil and has given away Roush Mustangs as contest vehicles. Valvoline sponsored the Mustang "Shoot Out."

By the time the above video was produced, 12/12/07... ASC/Saleen was operating. If they knew this was taking place, the ASC executives probably did not ask any questions.

Roush was known to underrate vehicles and Saleen was known to overrate.

The Saleen featured their best wheels offered during the S197 era. The forged 20" 5-spokes. While the Roush has their 18"s. Both vehicles have the same 4-piston StopTech calipers.

For pricing... I think the Stage 3 would have been better matched to the S281 S/C. The R package Roush was something Saleen did not compete with until the 2008 Red Flag & American Flag Editions.
