Default Squeaky Brakes on PJ

I noticed I have squeaky brakes. Maybe a glaze or something?

Has anyone had this on their PJ and know how to get rid of it? It happens with normal brake pedal pressure.. Press hard and it goes away.

(kinda embarrassing )

Maybe the pads need to be replaced with ceramic? Harder pads?

Thanks

Fronts are a bit quicker to change than the rears in my opinion, though you'll need to spread the pistons when installing new, thicker pads, which can be difficult your first time without the right tools.

I've got one squealing brake with my street pads. Only time it squeaks is just as I'm coming to a stop. Not much dust compared to the stock Stoptech pads. I run Hawk HPS on the street. Stock Stoptech pads never squeaked. My experience is the harder the pads, the more they squeak, unless a stock pad gets a decent sized piece of grit stuck in it.

Hi Chris

Yes I changed all 4 sets of brakes,
Fronts are a bit easier to fit, you will have to push pistons back. Just do one pad at a time, then lever other pistons on other side back
Rears are trickier you need a special tool "available at any auto parts store" to wind the piston back in....to make life easier just loosen bleed valve as you do it.
Front are Ceramic Posi Quiet 105.06090
Rear Ceramic Powerstop Evolution 16 1082
Another distinct advantage is you don't get the brake dust problem any where near as bad as the other types

Hope this helps

Tony

Hi Tony, Im getting ready to pull the trigger on new brake pads.

Are the ceramic pads you put on your PJ's hard on the rotors?. Ive heard that ceramic pads are hard and the rotors get sacrificed first? Thoughts?

Also, Centric Posiquiet have rear pads.
Centric Parts 301.10820 Rear Premium Ceramic Disc Brake Pads

Any reason you chose the Powerstop Evolutions for the rear over the Posiquiets that you put on the front?

Thanks
Chris

i put posi-quiets on the front, brake dust is virtually nil (less than stock rear) and no more squeal thank god. less grip and more fade than the big brake pads that come with the saleens, but we don't really drive on the track, we drive normally, right. that being said, i kept the pads in case i do take it to the track. i miss that grip sometimes ;) but the posi quiets are very nice.

My PJ goes to the track regularly. I also show it regularly.

I use the StopTech pads on the front and EBC bluestuff pads on the rear.

I have tried everything mentioned here and found some issue with on track performance from everything else. I don't have squealing or squeaking issues with these at all.
Downside is that this pad combination make lots of dust.

I use this same combo on all my S197 Saleens.
