Default Q: Priming Intercooler Pump?

Noticed some higher than normal IATs recently. My intercooler pump is not circulating. Timer box is clicking after 30 secs key on engine off but no pump engagement. The IC fluid was recently changed for service and I suspect it may be a priming issue. Is there an easy way to prime the ic pump? Thanks

I just disconnected my upper hose that runs to the blower and used my garden hose with a spray nozzle to shot water into the system. Worked like a charm.

i had a plastic lid from a ziptie container, drilled a small hole in middle and placed it over the intercooler reservoir. Turn air compressor way down and pumped air through the hole, you hear bubbles in the heatexchanger, within a minute it will start flowing normally

Tried priming the pump a couple different ways without luck, I think the pump is dead. I found a new one for $85.00. Seems like a pretty good deal with free shipping.

If the pumps not running it could be the relay, they tend to fail, or the inline fuse.

I'd spend the extra bucks and get this....considering you already have the better HE. Why not flow more coolant through and bring the IAT down.

I would have to agree on this. The stock pump doesn't really pump enough to keep up with the heat these blowers produce. I would get a larger capacity resivoir as well if you don't already have one.

Fuse is good and I have the JDM intercooler relay with optional on/off switch on the way. My IAT's with the stock pump and AFCO non-fanned HE barely registered on the temp gauge so for now I think the stock pump will be fine although if I decide to start open tracking again that may change. =)

Thanks for all the valuable input.

Question. My pump runs. How "Vigorous" should the coolant in the reserve be agitating? It's moving, but how much is normal. Can someone post a video?
Reason I ask is I'm not sure the coolant is circulating through the system.

If you turn the ignition on but not the car and pop your hood you should be able to hear the coolant flowing. Thats with the stock pump and its even more noticable with one of the higher volume pumps. My stock one ate it about 6 months ago so they do seem to be the week link in the system, everything eles is undersized for anything but the lower boost levels.

Replaced the pump today. After installation I could hear the pump turn on but was not priming from the air trapped in the system. Disconnected the upper reservoir line and capped it with duct tape. Forced some low pressure air through the top of the reservoir and started circulating again. IATs below 100 now.

Key on engine off flow from the stock intercooler pump into the stock saleen intercooler resevior. On my car I am running the Afco non-fanned HE
