Default Q: What Brand Cold Air Intake To Get?

I don't know which one to get i narrowed it down to the
JLT Cold Air Intake
or
Demolet Tuneable Induction Cold Air Intake
Is there any other brands i should be considering?
What's your opinion?

I had a JLT, but after talking with Jim Jr, I decided to toss it. I don't like how the MAF get put into the fender. Just my opinion.

This is the one I plan to go with.....
Should work as long as you are running a 90mm MAF!
With a Little HAmmertone Paint on the tube and the Shield against the Fender it would look a lot like the "Extreme" one.

Sonic, I like that one. The MAF is in the stock location.

I did the demolet induction and was very pleased. I saw a 1-1/2 psi gain in boost in a stock application. Felt like an honest +20wrhp. When I upgraded the MAF I used a 3.5" to 4" transition coupling from hose techniques. All the pieces fit together great. Very stock looking and the MAF doesn't relocate.

The Difference in the Demolet one and the one I posted is a little different.....

The Demolet (TuneableInduction) has an extra bend inside the fender that points the Filter Downward.....This has shown to actually be worse off than the other one posted above which actually has the Filter just on the other side of the Heat Shield!

In Fact you can see the rubber end of the Filter on the Engine Bay side in the Pic connected to the Intake Tube! This ought to be a good way to go.....they have updated thier site to show that teh filter actually fits teh Saleen and ROUSH cars!!!

YAY! GOnna get this soon I hope!

Yes, the Tunable Induction has an extra bend, but this allows for a longer filter (more surface area) and locates it directly at the opening in front of the fender well to pull in fresh air. It can be removed for servicing with out removing the wheel and fender well, but does require it for installation. The UPR does look fairly straight forward and easy to install. They both have their advantages.

I think we both agree the important thing is to get the filter out of the engine bay and pull in some cool air.

Oh yes absolutely! I'm not trying to argue just stating what my thoughts were. Didn't mean to sound that I was DIssing the Demolet....I'm actually still undecided.

THe "Tunable Induction" company is actually under new management....In fact teh Intake seems to be cheaper now ($125)
Also looks like you can use it either way (with the extra bend or without) http://tunableinduction.com/2004_gt.htm#1996-2004 GT Meter Forward
Here's the New pics of the intake:

ANYONE have pics of it installed ....From the Fender side, or underneath!?

I hate tax time. IRS accespted my return and I should have a fairly significant amount of cash put into my checking account in the next 4-5 days....

**** it.

Made a list of CAI, pulley, belt, MAF, injectors, pump, and tuner....

I'm of the mindset now that someone needs to talk me out of it. Which, I know I've come to the wrong place for that sort of support. lol.

Yeah, but look around.....you will not find it cheaper! Even the guys selling the USED MAF want $75-$100 for them. The 42lb injectors by themselves are $269.....and only going up!

Esp since people have not realized they are no longer made yet!

I got my injectors and MAF here for $319 a few months ago:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Musta...spagenameZWDVW

The JLT on the car when I got it, but im about to get rid of it, this one wont accept a 90mm MAF housing, so I just moved the 90mm electronics into the stock meter for now and tuned it like that. I do like how the other brands allow for keeping the MAF in the stock location, no point in exposing it to the elements in the fenderwell.

Go talk to some people on modular fords or on ford lightning forums. Check the for sale boards.

The ford lightnings come with 42lb injectors and 90mm MAFs stock....so those guys pull them out when they start upgrading.

Buy them used and you'll save some money on both.

Oh yeah...and commenting on the original topic of the thread....I like the demolet tunable induction design.

Seriously looking at this one... Debating on pulling the trigger or not, because once I do, I've started an avalanche.

Just curious as to why you are leaning towards this one!?
I myself was as well, before looking more into the TunableInduction one....now I am torn, back and forth !

(YOu know how that goes and it usually goes that way for a while till I decide to finally give uop and pull the truigger!)

What I do like about the UPR one is that it looks a bit more clean, adn it doesn't have that extra bend in it like th other one!

I own a UPR Big Mouth filter for my truck and really like the design and it has lasted a while too!

Either way it comes down to both will prob be within 1-2 hp of each other, price is about the same too! So I'm sure you can't go wrong with either! But like I siad before the UPR one with a little flat black textured paint it will match the look of an "Extreme" intake!

Don't know, with the Saleen blower/intake/etc, I'm just trying to find one that will work. It's $150 as well (and looks good).

I'm still researching, so nothing's a lock yet.

Extreme intake I don't think went into the fender well.

Some good finds though Sonic! Thanks!

Hmm. I may call them. Want to make sure it'll hook up to the series I (which I'm sure it would).

I'm slowly but surely talking myself into this stuff...

I'm looking to buy a CAI for my series II. Why will the series IV intakes not work on the II's? Everything seems the same. I've compared 2 pictires and they look alike.

I'm now at an official decision point:

After calling a couple tuners *near* me (3 hours away), I was quoted $750 for tuner and dyno tune, added to the parts, puts it at about $1900. He did say with the bits I was looking at, he could probably get me 60-80 at the wheels.

But, $2000 is a chunk. For $1000, I can put new windos in my house. :D

Well I got my intake from TUNABLE INDUCTION and installed it last night...

Install took longer than expected.
I had to add an additionl 45deg coupler to make it work right......the angle is different than that of a normal GT. The stock MAF coupler just wouldn't line up right, PLUS everything just seemed too short.......PICS ATTACHED

It sounds great and you can def hear the car sucking in the air!!!!
Performance wise it is hard to tell, it really feels like it needs to be tuned (especially after I installed the 75mm TB)

Looks great Sonic! It will fit up better when you upgrade your MAF, but will require a different hose fitting for the 90mm. Take a look at a 3-1/2 to 4" transition coupling from hose techniques. It looks like the factory piece you removed.

You may want to remove the TB or possibly both until you add you pump and tune. Your bringing in a lot more air, but your fuel is the same. I did my intake w/o any upgrades and it ran fine, in fact it ran great, but you can't detect a lean condition w/o a wideband (add an Innovate LC-1 to your list!). The car will actually run real strong when leaned out, but it's not good. The factory fuel pump is over tasked allready at just 6psi. You probably just picked up 1-1/2 or 2 psi with those mods .

Does anyone knows if the Demolet Tuneable Induction Cold Air Intake will bolt directly to the 90mm lightning MAF or do you need an adapter?

It sounds great and you can def hear the car sucking in the air!!!!
Performance wise it is hard to tell, it really feels like it needs to be tuned (especially after I installed the 75mm TB)
Good info and pics. I have an extreme intake tube and may call tuneable induction to get the fenderwell piece to complete it. Also need to get couplers to mate it to the throttle body and MAF.
