Q: Original cat back for 1989 Saleen?
I own Saleen 89-342 and I'm getting ready to change out the rusted out 2-chamber Flowmasters. I want to know what was the original cat back that came on the 89 Saleen.

OEM Ford. The SSC in 89 was a walker dynomax. "Standard" Saleen cars had no engine / exhaust mods (well an air cleaner). Suspension, brakes, interior, and body kit were the extent of modifications.

Good to know. I thought all fox body Saleens came with Dynomax. I've had these 2-chamber flows on the car since I bought it in 93. With headers, H-pipe with no cats the drone was killing me on long trips. I finally bought an H-pipe w/cats to quiet thing down a bit.
I don't want another loud catback system, any suggestion? I might go with the Dynomax since I had a set on my old 85 GT and like them. |

Quiet is really tough, just seems like nobody wants to make anything quiet these days.
I have the dynomax ultraflo, no cats. It's fairly loud, not too much drone, but I rarely go on the highway so... I bought it because it's requires no modification with a panhard bar (which I can confirm). I've heard there is a borla kit that is real quiet.
