No they are OEM factory coil packs. FYI, the aftermarket coil packs don't have any measureable Perf increase we've ever seen, so we don't recomend them.

I agree. I bought a set of the X Weapon coils and replaced the stock units but I did not notice any power differance. Not to say that there wasn't a change but nothing that I noticed. I only upgraded for a stronger spark. I had read that supercharger can "blow out" the spark on weaker systems so I upgraded so I didn't have to worry about it. Again no proof that this was happening or not just wanted to change them.

Thanks I was asking at the time because I had to replaced two of them. I went with the OEM ones, I wasn't looking to change them to aftermarket or nothing. I was making sure because the service dept was scared of it at first.

The engine light came on again for coil pack. I just had them changed at the dealer a week ago. I'm starting to get upset.

Have you checked all the wiring leading up to them thoroughly?

No, but I am bringing it back to Ford tomorrow morning. It's not running eratically or anything it still runs normal. They were changed the Thursday before Christmas, I drove from Wichita Falls, Tx to Slidell,La and back. I went to and from work all last week and drove around town no problems til the light came on this morning.

Ford said that they talked to Saleen and they said because I don't have the bigger injectors and updated calibration the autolite plugs are running hotter than what they installed from the factory. So they will be installing new factory plugs.

Are you supercharged? I'm confused at what there saying because Autolite HTO's run colder, not hotter.

Yes I am supercharged. They said that Saleen said it was hotter due to not having the upgraded pcm calibration, along with the bigger injectors and all. So guess who is going to be upgrading?

How did they move from a coil code being spark plugs? I have had plugs with the ends burned completely off not register a coil code. Not sure how the coil would register a code if the plug were bad unless it somehow monitors current flow and can tell that the plug is not firing. I would dig into the code further and see if you can figure out what conditions will cause the code.

How long have you had the car before the coil pack code? When it first threw the code was the engine running any different? Was your SC installed by Saleen at the time of manufacturing or was it put on at a later date?

Maybe get yourself a testing tool, or a second opinion because it sounds as if your Ford dealership may be leading you down the wrong path.

You need to fix the problem before upgrading.

I've had it almost a year, I bought it used. It first threw the code after thanksgiving. Then it cleared on it's own. The it came on again right before Christmas, two coil packs were replaced. Threw it again last week coil packs checked out fine the didn't run any different. The dealer ship talked to Saleen and that's what was told to them.. I was wanting to upgrade just had to wait for the wife's approval.

It's a true factory Saleen SC.

So if you know there is nothing "Mickey Mouse" with your car then I would ask who they spoke with at Saleen. Maybe send an email to Jess Albright.

jalbright@saleen.com

I would check the wires also. If you cannot see anything, then let the car run and do some light tugging to see if it throws a code.

Are you going to put on a different SC pulley, or intake tube with a larger MAF sensor? Just changing the injectors and a Saleen reflash is not going to give you much of a performance improvement.

In all the years coil packs have been around, I cant count on one hand the many times ive seen them fail unless damaged. Im pretty sure your issue lies somewhere else. I would have them return those coil packs and get to the root of your issue.

Found this - it may help. Do you have a specific code that it is giving? I would check wiring before replacing coils.
