Looks good Wyatt! I have mine installed also. Just haven't gotten the car out of the garage since. Man, I sure do love that hood though. It definitely flows with the cars body lines.

Edit: I think you need to add mirror caps!

I got a better idea, carbon fiber side mirrors to compliment your new carbon fiber parts

I'll be at the Fabulous Fords show, hope to see you there

Wyatt, the car looks fantastic. I've been waiting to see the CF sides installed. Can you please post a side pic of your car to show how the sides mesh with the front splitter and rear diffuser? Also please post a rear 3/4 shot. I may have to start saving my pennies(lots) to get all three. Maybe HCM will run a total package discount . Anyway, I don't think the standard Extreme rear diffuser will fit a convertible, and I'm not sure if HCM makes one for a vert. Congrats on a job well done, Wyatt; and thanks if you post more pics.

The only difference between the convertible diffuser is that it has 1 extra bracket, instead of having a V shaped bracket like the coupe that installs in the middle, its broken up into 2 parts. I've had people install just 4 of the 5 coupe brackets on their convertible and they were just fine. Shoot me a PM and I'll see what I can do about a package deal.

Great pictures! Your car sits very low, perfect stance, what kind of suspension do you have installed? Very clean car

The stance was provided by Pedders coilovers. The height balance and suspension was set by Dick Gulstrands shop in Burbank California. Dick helped Saleen on the early cars. Dick was also had a very large part in the setup and design. Of the Corvette suspension.

Great pictures. Thanks again, Wyatt. Those CF side skirt extensions fit right in with the CF front and rear spoilers.

Wyatt, can you see the bolt heads to the rockers from a distance? If I am looking at mine from say 15ft the bolt heads stick out like sore thumbs. That's my only negative with these. I might see if I can find something else to use.

Yeah, I think so. Would definitely blend in more with the underside of the extensions.

It's hard to see them in these photos. But I can vividly see them when I took each one.

I just put the car in the air and went over the bolts with a Oil based paint Sharpie. It did a nice job, They blend in now. I found the Sharpie in a craft store, its not the Sharpie you usually think of. This pen is about 1" thick with a rattle in the can.

Maybe paint the head black.

Can the bolts be a touch shorter?
The included hardware appears to be 1/4" X 1-3/4"....

I ordered a box of 50 grade 5 zinc plated 1/4" X 1-1/2" round head ribbed neck bolts.

The head width is 0.59. With the skirt recess being 7/8" wide I think it will disappear:

I cant find my calipers to measure the depth but the bolt is .145 & and it looks like it will be flush....

If it works I have enough to do several more.
Oh...and definitely paint the heads black .

When you guys installed your skirts, did you start at one end and then work to the other or did you start in the middle and move outwards?

I installed the 5 bolts in this order starting from the front. 1,5,2,4,3. I also used a small square block, as a reference point to keep the side skirts flat. My side skirts wanted to keep angling up. The front side skirt would fit flat, but the back would want to kick upwards.

Thanks for the infor. I'm gonna try that as it appears i will have the same challenge.

My skirts are a lil "warped". It's probalby just the what happens when the the coating dries and contracts. I've also noticed the front, contours very well with the ground effects but the back or rear tire portion does not.

I installed mine from front to back. Wish I would of thought about it a little more and did it like Wyatt, but was already tired of rolling around on the ground lol. Mine tried to angle up as well but got them pretty flat. The only part of mine that didn't really sit right is the very front of both where they meet the side skirts. If I did it over I would start from the back and twist them as I go.

Mine is opposite. My backs sit closer to the side skirts than the fronts. I noticed the warping as well. I twisted them as I installed them.

Gentlemen,

These bolts are nice in theory, but will not work as expected. You need to be running nylock nuts on these so that they do not work loose. This bolt has a keyway wich is designed to lock the head in place so that you may tighten and torque the nut securely and since you wont be able to grab the head of the bolt you will not be able to secure the head of the bolt during the tightening process. These CF rocker extension will take a lot of vibration from road and turbulance. If your hardware comes loose, you will have a world of issues.

To fix the issue, use a normal hex head bolt with a flat washer on top and bottom. Get a counter sink drill bit and take approx 1/8" of extra material off the recess from the bottom of the extension and like Wyatt mentioned paint the heads of the bolts. With the extra relief in sinking them you wont see them nearly at all. This is what we just did to CDMSaleen's car today and it works great. For the "warping", we laid the pieces in the sun for a bit to "soften" them up a bit so to speak and with a little finesse our installation was very nice. Take your time with these, give them some love and they will be a great addition to your Saleen!

Found one bad thing about the extensions... They appear to collect rock pebbles on top of them lol. I guess that's what I get for running larger tires.

It doesnt look like you can shave much of anything off to recess it more...? Ill have the bolts tomorrow and will let you know about the fit and feel.
Nylock 1/4" nuts are a good idea. I considered that but I need to see how well the ribs grab in the CF as red lock tite may also work. I dunno....
These are grade 5 and are definatly an upgrade over what was provided. I just need to make sure it bites in good otherwise we will indeed need a head.

In a side note....the saleen skirts are held on with screws, push pins, urethane and 3m tape. All these things get are bolts. Each CF skirt weighs 4 lbs 4 oz...
Im gonna double check the push pins so over time this wont warp the skirt downward.

Thanks for the input Jason....

Ill know more tomorrow.

My pleasure bud! If cross wind wasnt an issue, 3m and push pins would prob work, but not my suggestion.

I bolted down the front and back first to make sure they were on flush

We don't provide 3M tape, push pins, or urethane but that doesn't stop you from using them of it gives you piece of mind that they won't go flying off. I'm going to constantly check the bolts to make sure they are tight and it doesn't come loose, 3M tape is a good idea for extra reinforcement

On a side note, all that's holding the front splitter are only bolts also and that gets more exposure

That it does. Especially the rear diffuser and bumper. But these pebbles sit on top of the extensions and fall in between the extensions and the rockers. Then when the car flexes they get stuck and you can still see them lol.

If you look at the gt500 cf rocker extensions they appear to go up the fender a tad behind the front wheel and almost act as a rock guard. I think I know a fix for it, but I'll need a sheet of aluminum and some snips. I might can just fab up my own rock guard and have it painted black to match the car.

Anyone else experience this and have any ideas?
