Default Aerocatch hood pins

Everyone here is well aware that at certain speeds the hoods on the S197 body tends to flap due to the retro-aerodynamics. I am considering hood pins, but I wanted to avoid the chrome snap ring type. I came across these Aerocatch ones and was wondering if anyone has experience with these? Opinions appreciated

Get these: http://www.wmsracing.com/wmsweb/hoodpins.html. You don't have to drill into your hood and they are stealth.

That looks great! Blends well with the blacked out hood. My hood is similar, so these might look good on my car. Decisions, decisions . Wiggy, did you install the WMS pins yourself? Was it hard to do?

I suppose these are a must with tracking the car?

How do we make clean cuts in the hood with the WMS style hood latches? These can look pretty cool when painted to match imo.

Are our hoods Al or fiberglass?

Sorry for some of these newb questions

If your hood was factory installed I believe they only installed aluminum.

No, but I remember him searching for an aluminum hood to replace his fiberglass one. Maybe he will chime in.

My guess is that the car was originally equipped with the aluminum hood and the previous owner put it on.

How much cutting is involved in installing these hood pins? Looks like quite a bit!! I have the stealth pins now and last year at high speed my hood popped with the WMS (lucky the safety latch caught). Ever since I have had problems with them performing properly, at a car show last year one side would not release, very embarrassing, took me 10 minutes of wiggling and shaking before it finally released. Been looking for another alternative ever since.

Are you refering to the Aerocatch?

And it always amazes me when customers are like "wow it cost that much" or "it shouldn't take that long". The next time someone says that to us I'm gonna hand them the air saw. Putting hood pins on with delicacy and precision is daunting to say the least. But a perfect install is a fine reward.

I really thought all factory cars came with aluminum. Not a huge fan of the fiber version either unless the prep work is done right.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. No way in hell I'm cutting into my aluminum hood. But sidvicious does have a normal hood (not a heat exchanger) so he might want the aero ones.

no doubt..when people stroll up from my service area and say it only take ten minutes I say ok lets time it and if it goes over you pay double..as a joke..then they somehow relent.

That's right Boostin. I would definitely get the WMS if I had the Saleen hood. I would not want to cut holes in such a rare piece. I gave up looking for the Saleen hood and decided to go SuperShaker when I added forced induction. I blacked out the hood to help blend in the scoop, so I think the Aerocatch pins will match well; like with Jason's car. I will not go with the flush pins like Jason did. I like the top mount better with the lip for the screws so they are not so conspicuous. Its all a matter of personal preference anyway. BTW, now the SuperShaker is almost as rare as the aluminum Saleen hood. Also, thanks for everybody's input. This site is the sh**.

Do they have any of the old school type hood pins where it is more like drilling a hole rather than "cutting" a big hole out of the hood?

I have seen the old style hood pins used on the newer cars, but the little cables ding the hood... but they look cool!
