Default Saleen tune Question

Just curious on my 2001 s281. What are the details of the tune and does it ever vanish from the ECM, for instance when a battery replacement occurs, Ford service, or local mechanics clearing issues etc.

Default Saleen Tune

The Saleen tune is a reflash of the ECU, and you will not lose any of the flash information from the tune itself even if you unplug permanently. However, just like any ECU you will lose some data parameters and log for timing, temperature, o2 exhaust etc., but the computer will relearn once you drive a few hours. I think you will be able to clear basic codes. I do know that most hand held tuners can't even detect the Saleen tune or they are locked out...so those are useless, unless you go to a person who can reflash completely and who can build different tunes for gearing, injectors, fuel air, pulley swap etc. So battery replacement, service or the like will not harm your Saleen ECU.

Information I have gathered has me looking to SCT (still have unanswered questions), or pulling the ECU and swapping to a full standalone MS3Pro.. the later is i'm getting tired of searching for information on the cluster calibrations and such. (car has 3.73 gears over the OEM gears from Saleen).. I'm still on the fence with it all though. I know my car had been tuned with Diablo as the ship that slide into the access port on the ecu was under the carpet when I did my heater core. I do not know what it's currently tuned on but she's def running rich. I didn't want to pull the tap off the back of the ecu and look as I didn't want to "upset" the chip as i know they can be finicky.

Default speedo recal

I know that Ford Racing sold a vss modulator, anyway it was called their speedometer re-calibration tool. I have a brand new one and never tried to use it. It basically modifies the vss signal and you just have to find the perfect setting with the 3 different switches or dials inside or something to that effect. I just didn't want to mess something up as it deals with voltage to the cluster and ecu =/. Maybe I can put a fuse in. Ford stop making them so thought maybe it wasn't that great of a part. Not sure. This option would be reversible and I have given it thought because in 5 years mind you, I drive the car 1k miles a year, the uptick in the mileage does still bother me with 3.73's and stock being 3.27's. Anybody else with ideas or things that have worked? I also have the T-56.
