Wink Q: S281 SC hood and vents?

Hey all. A new owner of a 2006 S281SC vert w/23K miles on it. Previous owner did a great job converting it to an SC 281 except for a hood with Vents. I will order directly from Saleen, but can someone tell me where the water goes if it rains? Don't plan on driving it in the rain, but i don't see drainage holes, and the Fiberglas under these should be open for the air & heat to escape from the engine compartment, correct??

Feedback would be great.

Thanks!!!

Hi and welcome to the forums!

The vents on the S197 Saleen hoods are not functional.

Originally the composite hoods were used on the 2005 model year and a stamped aluminum version on the 2006-09 model year vehicles.

Composite replacement is now available in the aftermarket.

Question Hood.

Thanks Dave. On the OEM hood from saleen, they look like they have deep troughs. Can water collect in them? If they are not active, does the water drain or collect in the fiberglas under the vents?

Actually on the composite hood(not sure about the aluminum hood) they are kinda functional. There’s some cutouts on the underside of the hood that connect to passage that exits at the vents. I’d post you a picture but it’s to hard on this site.

Pop the hood and look at the underside of the hood. See the intake vent holes?
They are over the pullies so it sucks that hot air out.
See the tunnel that goes around to the vents? The air rushing over the vents does create vacuum which pulls the air through the hood. Water drains out the back sides if it gets between the hood panels (top and bottom) same as a stock hood.
Its actually pretty cool. I edited a photo to illustrate. Clicky here --->https://imgur.com/a/6ZNbSoL
