Default Question: 17x9 Cobra wheels & tires on 1989 Saleen?

hi guys
first please forgive me if this in the wrong section, this is my first post. My fiance's dad passed away last summer and he left me and my futer brother in law his all original 1989 saleen. (i forget the number) it runs like a top but it need new tires. we have a set of 17 inch cobra r rims of a 1995 mustang. i got a quote for new tires, 275/40's on the back and 245/45's on the front. my question is.... will these fit with out rubbing? will the rims work at all? if so what size would i need?
thanks for any and all coments.

The rear will need more offset than the Cobra R wheels have, to tuck under the fenders with the long Saleen axles.

There are 2 different Cobra R wheels. The R58's that have something like a 5.94" backspacing and the M179's that have around 6.74" backspacing. I ran the M179's with no problems on the back and on the front. The R58's will also work on the fronts.

Yup, the M179 version from FRPP (now discontinued) had 6.42" backspacing, they were made for Foxes with the M 2300 K brake conversion kit. If you could find 2 of those, you would be OK. Chances are that the ones coming off the 95 are all the 5.94" version.

cheers
