Default Small Bumper Light Question

Is it possible to change the bulbs inside the small circular housing right next to the headlight?

I want to change the orange blinker bulbs to stealth bulbs that will light up orange but wont make the lense look orange when they are not lit but I cant seem to get the old bulb out of the housing...I tried to twist it out but I just ended up breaking one of the tabs on the light and it never budged. Is it a sealed housing or does the bulb come out from the back and can be changed? I want to change the blinker not the other small white bulb in there, just the orange one

I pulled both of the lights out of each one of those housings and replaced with LEDs by just turning them while the front bumper was still on. They do just twist out like any other bulb, yours may be stuck. They are easy to change once you have removed the front bumper if you wanted to get new round housings if yours break. One of mine cracked so i bought a pair from Saleen and they came in a Mini Cooper box, lol. You can buy them on eBay for a good amount less than Saleen and it's all the same (I honestly don't get the Saleen markup of over $25 on Mini Coopers turn signals).

Mine must be stuck, I tried to twist the back of the housing off to change the bulb without taking the bumper off of the car and one of the tabs broke off and it didnt budge. It would be easier to explain if I had a picture of the back of the housing but the part that the tab broke off of is the part that the plug is connected to. I undid the plug and tried to twist the backing off and it did not work on either side. Yours just twisted off and you changed the bulb?

Seems like they are stuck, they will eventually budge if you try harder, and they might break, luckily for $40 shipped you could have a brand new pair

As long as I know that they are supposed to twist off then I will just keep prying on them until something gives but I got nervous when the tab broke on the backing of the light and it still hadnt budged. I started thinking maybe they are not removeable and I am just busting them up for no reason trying to twist them off lol

Well I was able to get these off but I ordered 3157 Bulbs and it appears they are not 3157 bulbs....does anyone know the bulb number for the turn signal? It has a round bottom and twists into place to lock in

You need an 1156. 1157 and 3157 are dual filament bulbs for brake lights. the 115x are round bottom and the one you need, the 315x are mostly for domestic vehicles with the plastic flat bottom connector.

Ahh thanks, I guess I should have asked before I bought bulbs, I dont know why I assumed they were 3157's. 1156 looks like the ones I just took out of the housing. Thanks.

Do you happen to know the bulb number on the smaller bulb that is in the same housing? It lights up a similar color to the headlights when turned on
