Yes, thanks for that, I did see that thread actually but I wasnt sure what to make of it since no one here has actually tried the pump to see if it actually works, or even mounts up, but there was some promising information in there.

If that stock pump flow number is accurate then these cars have very small pumps...1.5 GPM seems a lot lower than other pumps I have seen on the cobra and the lightning trucks, so I wasnt sure if that was accurate either, but I have no idea personally.

If that pump does actually work then that would be AWESOMEEE to say the least

I was a little worried that the Shurflo pump may not be strong enough because I tried to find some information on the stock Oberdorfer 170M-A95S pump that I took off my car and there wasnt much information about it when I googled it but I did possible see something about the pump being capable of 12GPM and also saw stock cobras and lightnings pumps stating that they had a flow of 8GPM which made me not so sure that the stated stock 1.5GPM on the Saleen seem very low, but again info is very hard to find online about these pumps so I am trying to piece together any information that I can

I am not so sure either but I would expect it to be a little smaller than a cobra lightning ones. If I remember correctly they are both M112s at least a cobra is and we have an M90 a little smaller so a smaller pump would not surprise me

I don't know much but now that I have a supercharger I try to get info like crazy for when something does go wrong

pretty sure i bought the blower from the guy that told you about it. mike correct? anyways. I have the surflo pump in mine and it worked for a few days but now doesnt work anymore. i believe its an electrical problem since im no electrician but i will get it hooked up right and let everyone know. the guy i bought it from says it worked great.

That aftermarket pump sounds great. I would have tried one but I just replaced mine. Same problem, “leaking” I called Saleen and they said it was a common problem. I ordered mine from Saleen and paid for the Saleen name as well as the pump around 300 bucks with shipping. If I were you I would try the aftermarket pump and save myself about 200 dollars and maybe even get a better pump at the same time.

There is a few different options depending on what you have. If you want one, we'll spec it out to your cars needs.

I finally got around to ordering it and just got mine yesterday and hopefully have time to swap it this weekend. I will keep you posted on this thread. My only real concern is longevity, there is no "duty rating" on the shurflo pump/motor. The factory pump is more than likely designed for continuos duty, where this one was made for intermitant use in a marine app like a bilge pump.

BTW, with my cooling mods i still see 130 temps max now on a super hot day. That after flogging it repeatedly!

Great keep us informed....looking forward to hearing the results!
HOPEFULLY the temps go down for you too.....it's suprising to hear that your still getting 130deg temps after the Chicane IC mod.

But I guess you did say that is after "flogging it"

why wouldnt you guys buy the ford racing 03 cobra pump from yates performance for 114? it flows 5 gpm and is not much more than the marine pump. here is a link http://www.yatesperformance.com/en6400.html

The reason i didnt use this or the lighting pump is the location of the suction and discharge. The shurflo pump needs no additional fittings and the bolt pattern is supposedly the same. I haven't had time to install it, but i will keep you posted.

How was the install? I heard the Lightning pump (used on 03/04 Cobra upgrade) is not a plug and play for us.

Glad somebody brought up the Cobra pump, I was wondering the exact same thing. I can't wait until somebody gives the result of the pump as my Saleen is my DD so I can't really chance testing a pump

I finished the install last night and took it for a cruise. Here are the results.
Pro's
-Same exact bolt pattern
-It runs quieter w/ no vibration at all (due to rubber mounts on pump).
-Noticeable increase in flow (looking in the tank).
-Self priming (sweet!). Didn't have to burp the pump.
-Temps are 10 to 15 deg cooler while cruising and seemed to recover quicker after boosted runs.

Con's
-different location for the inlet (suction) on the pump. The lightning pump would be the same as the OE pump.
-required additional jam nut fittings. Not a big deal found them at Home Depot for around $2.50 each.
-required rerouting the line from the tank to gain enough hose to reach the pump. Not a big deal. Looks good.

Summary
-The ambient air temps while testing were only 70 deg. A 100 deg day will show if there are any noticable gains. The install was easy and it quiets up the pump quite a bit. The Lightning pump would be a closer match for the lines, but may still require additional fittings. This mod would probably do more for someone w/o the Chicane I/C upgrade. Hope this helps...
Scott

Update:
95 deg temps so i gave it another try and there were no noticable change towards cooler intake temps.
The best test for this is to do a couple boosted runs, then park it and shut it off, this will heat soak the intercooler and intake manifold. I saw 180 degrees at start up and it cooled down to the normal 125-130 degrees i see since the chicane I/C swap. It may help cool it a little faster, but not that i could notice.

I dont think the pump swap is worth while if you have the upgraded I/C.

I call "not it" on the next guinea pig test....

I too just started having a leaking pump this week. It is the Oberdorfer 170m a95s Is this the stock one? Because it appears the wires have been spliced a couple times.

Looks ike I need to get a new one. Which one should i go with?

The original pump is very easy to dismantle and repair. There is only one shaft seal that can leak. Did that on mine about a year ago and it has been fine since.

I'm assuming you just ordered the seal from them? Price? How do you get the seal out? And back in? Their maintenance PDF isn't working.

I got the seal from a local hydraulic & pneumtaic store, it's a standard seal so they can get you a correct seal by measuring the old onel.

Don't have any specific instructions or pictures but it's quite obvious if you are used to work with simple hand tools

We have the perfect replacement pump, and its cheaper than the factory Bosch pump. Just tell me what size hoses your running whether its AN fittings or barbed and we'll configure it for you!

Your pump could possibly need only a new viton lip seal. The lip seal part number is 9986, list price around $34.00. The rebuild kit, part 10912, includes an impeller, lip seal, and gasket has a list price of around $95.00. A new pump and motor, part number 170MS5-A81, price is around $419.00. The A81 motor is 1/10 hp, 3480 rpm, and 12 volts DC. The old N95 motor was 1/13 hp, 3160 rpm and 12 volts DC.

Contact Vissers @ http://www.visserssales.com/. Mine is leaking too and am in the process of getting a "Lip Seal" from them as I got the above info through another contact.

Better to fix the pump if you can than to replace it as it costs a lot of money.

You can also try contacting Halsted Hogan at (213) 623-1248 for the parts, they may have them as well.

In Canada, you can call Motion Canada at (604) 623-1793.

If anyone wants the schematic for the pump that saleen includes in their kits, send me a private message (not sure if you can post PDF's or how here yet, am new so bare with me)

I cant seem to find any good information online anywhere....
I got my 10912 repair kit just the other day, these guys below were very helpful.

SEE BELOW:

I used a cobra pump and 10 dollars worth of adapters to make the threaded lines work with the clamp style flange on the cobra pump. Also a fuel injector connector is the pigtail you need for it as well. Mine works awesome. I have around 65 bucks in the setup.

this is NOT a direct bolt nor a plug and play but here is some info to help you out

Get the Cobra 03 04 intercooler pump, American Muscle had it for like $139
then you will need to call a Bosch dealer in your area and get Bosch #1287013003 - which is the pigtail ( works PERFECT and only cost $11 ) - we had to use some reducers that we got at Home Depot, very cheap, we did a little rerouting of the hoses so there was no "crimping" - ( notes: the inlet and outlet of the Cobra pump is NOT the same as what comes on the Saleen keep that in mind when doing the install ) and there ya go

Did you purge the lines? Did you power it up on the bench to make sure it worked and nothing was lodged inside?

Find a 12v power supply and connect the leads.

found the problem, just a bad positive connection, Shurflo pump works good, I like how it uses the existing mounting holes, good amount of movement in the reservior, had to get new lines to reach the inlet/outlet ports, but no big deal

heres the problem, I took the car for a ride, about a half hour of alternating high rpm and cruising, my air temp gauge isnt pinned anymore, but its not much lower, still around 180-190, whats my next course of action?

Your next step is to verify your water temps are relatable to your IAT. Call me if you need help with this.
