Default Q: 4.6 2-Valve Series I power numbers?

What are you 2v owners who are not forged seeing for RWHP. I am sending My series 1 out next week for a rebuild and port, I will also be having a 66mm pulley and a Mafia air meter installed.
I already have a heat sheild installed, a 75mm Throttle body and walburn fuel pump.
I am just trying to get a idea what I might see when everything is installed?

Sure that is not a 3.75" stroker? What displacement is the motor now? I guess you will be putting down a lot more now.

I'm sure it's a 4.75. I am currently running the MMR1000 4.75 Stroker in my car as well.

The 4.75 stroker on MMR's site is the displacement, not the stroke....

No, actually it sucked. Completely uncontrolable. But not my race car I'm building with 800rwhp!

When I am ready to add a few more pony's, are cams worth the money or would heads be the way to go?

Jason would be one of the best to chime in hear, but I would believe porting the heads and cams at the same time would be great. Not sure I would pay for the TFS heads unless I were to put a 302 stroker under them. From what I have read, they seem to do better with the larger bored blocks, but Jason has more practicle experience with these things...lol What kind of power you looking for? Replacing the series one with a larger head unit, or even a KB might be another option worth looking into.

I would like to be around 360 RWHP, But have been disappointed everytime I add something, everything tells you what you should see and they are WAY OFF.
Like this last time I was at 285 RWHP with 190 degree AIT's at 5800 rpm, so I installed heat shield, had blower Ported by Stiegemeier and chicane 66mm pulley. Now I have AIT's of 136 Degrees at 5800 with 310 RWHP. a gain of only 25 HP when each and every item I added said it would add between 20 and 30 each.

It is a conservative tune at 17 degrees timing and AF of 11.8 at wot, not sure if a different tuner would get much more from it or not?

I totally feel you on the HP numbers. When they say "25hp" advertised, it's usually flywheel HP under optimum conditions and fibbed a little bit.

Before doing a larger blower, I'd focus more on the heads and cams if you want. The 2v heads are extremely restrictive. Add more boost you'll just fight the restriction.

Thats where I figured the restriction might be, I hit the 310 HP at around 4700/4800 rpm then flat lined the rest of the way to 5800

Port and polish those heads and you'll never look back. Oversized valves would be a great move too.

396 RWHP/401ft/lb torque with a Stiegemeier ported Stage II blower, Tork Tech intake & oval throttle body, 40lb injecters, BBK CAI and stock Saleen intercooler and about 190 AIT (No intercoooler heat shield), 13 psi boost. Kenne Bell boost-a-pump. Pro Dyno tune. Probably about 25 RWHP if I could get those intake temps down in the high 130's.

Can you give me the recipe of what else I should get while the engine is being installed this week. For example, Mass air meter, fuel injectors, boost pump etc. I don't want to be disappointed when I go get it tuned. I will be happy with 500 or more.

Thanks

I would buy ported pi heads over the TFS heads any day. I never really liked what I read and apparently they are a pain in the **** if you have a kenne bell because you have to clearance a lot. I'd love a set of ported heads with bigger valves.

I had port/polished PI heads on my previous motor before I blew it, built the new motor I have now with the 44cc trickflow twisted wedge heads, and honestly the trickflows out performed the port/polished PI heads. I did not run into any problems with them but then again im not running a Kenne bell so I can't speak for those guys.

Honestly bro it will be really hard to see anything close to 500rwhp with the Series 2 Saleen blower. On my previous setup I ran a Saleen Series 4 Supercharger, built motor, port/polished PI heads, hp292 cams, full bolt ons, tune, and the car only made 443rwhp. If you really want more advice feel free to call/text me anytime and ill be glad to guide you in the right path man, 832-790-0950.

Sounds great where are you located so I know the time difference because I am in Orlando Fl. How about Procharger D-1SC, or Paxton Novi 2000 don,t want to cough up $7000 for a Mammoth KB and I still need to purchase fuel pumps, injectors, tune.

I'm at 300rwhp with a Series 1

I don't have many mods either. Previous owner had it on the dyno.

Thats great numbers from a series 1 with automatic, or my first tuner was not very good. I was putting down 305 at the wheels with my series 1 ported and polished by Steig, 42 lb bosch injectors, tunable induction CAI , 66mm pulley, 70mm TB, 90 mm mass air, Mosaleen idler and Bassani high flow mid pipe.

Why bump, you don't have a series I supercharger on your 2002.

Well, since you bumped it...

Let's see if I remember everything...

FMS Throttle Body, 90 MM Lightning MAF, MoSaleen Pulley, 66mm Chicane pulley, 42 pound injectors, Bassani mid-length headers with cats, focus fuel pump and SCT chip with tune by Big Daddy Performance in Lakewood NJ. I know the RWHP was 337, I think the RWTQ was around 415, I have to find the sheet somewhere.. Pretty conservative tune...

Did you install the MoSaleen pulley and 66mm pulley at the same time? Or did you do the 66mm upgrade and than some time later did the MoSaleen.

Only reason i ask is if there was a major difference between both upgrades.
Ive got the 66mm pulley and MAF and pump ready to go just need the injectors and maybe the pulley and tuner and ill be ready to fly again!

On my 99, the 66mm pulley was installed several years before the MoSaleen idler was added. Hard to tell if the idler made a dramatic change since it was added along with most of the other changes and dyno tuned at the same time. I do know several owners who installed the idler by itself and noticed a difference in the car.
