Default Help: Sqeaking sound

Hi all.

My car has an annoying squeaking sound.

Im no mechanic but im guessing its not the belt or pully as the sound continues a little bit once the motor is switch off. Hopefully you can hear it in the video.
Any ideas what it could be or how to diagnose sounds from normal engine noise ?
Hope that makes sense.

Here is a YouTube link to a short video of the sound.

Maybe the ac compressor or electric fan. Does the sound change at all if you play with the ac while it’s running?

Hi tbar
No the sound does not change , air con off or on.
Also the sound stays the same even if you rev the car.
Sometime the sound does goes away when you drive it, but does come back again.
And when you turn the car off it sounds like something closes maybe.Ill try and get a better video with the sound.
Regards
Paul

That’s strange. It almost sounds vacuum related too me. Maybe use a mechanics stethoscope to see if you can narrow down the area it’s coming from.

Default Squeaking Sound

So today I had my brother over and got him to listen to the squeak.
when I turned the car off he noticed this part move, " Supercharger bypass valve " I believe. No idea what this part does but thinking this might be the issue. When I get time I will make sure all those hoses are on properly. Thinking of replacing the Supercharger bypass valve and hope that is the issue.
Also as tbar suggested I got a mechanics stethoscope and could not find that squeak coming from Pulleys or any other metal part of the motor.
Attached is another short video of that part.

Looks like you found the problem to me. Was the car making boost? That’s just what the name says it is. It controls the butterflies in the supercharger. When you start the engine you’ll see that move. Opening the butterflies from engine vacuum. This bypassing the supercharger screws. When you hit the gas pedal Engine vacuum decreases causing the butterflies to close directing the air through the screws making boost. Brenspeed did have the bypass valves.

Thanks for that tbar. The car does seem normal when I drive it but I haven't gotten up it for awhile as it rarely gets out. So not sure if making boost as my boost gauge has not worked in well over 7 years. That's another part I need to fix. Some times it does work , but its rare.
