Is it stock? My first time out I did 13.2 with a sliping clutch, c&l intake, bassani hpipe and nitto 555r rears, 1.8 ft time, 106 trap. It was 95° and 100% humidity. My first time ever drag racing, full tank of gas, full weight and heat soaked from the drive and didn't lower tire pressure. I should break 12s next time out, I was running under the stock tune, didn't have the custom tune downloaded (didn't realize it till weeks after). I now have the tune, Mcleod RST Twin Disk, and ill prepare better next time. Got called out by a stock 09 Roush Blackjack Stage 3...and beat him, talk about popping someones bubble! Lol

My best time is 12.73 with 1.98 60 foot. Had some issues with clutch and shifting into second so I know I shave off a few tenths with better launch and good shift. Really hot that day too...drag times says DA was 2607. Running 3.67 pulley and 3.90 gears.

If your doing this you need to look into the Mosaleen system along with a v10 water pump pulley. trust me, i just went through the same thing and i see this stuff as a must when going to a 3.2 or smaller ;)

also what CAI are you running? also a great upgrade with installing a new tune (saves you in the long run= just pay for the one tune)

with just those 3 things you are looking at 100 extra HP

Thanks for the feedback' I also purchased the water pump pulley and steed tensioner. I blew through my budget so I will have to wait for the mosaleen setup, I agree a must have' this is probably the last mods I will be doing to the Saleen. Time to start working on my 67 and 64.5.

This is off topic of 1/4 mile times, but what does the V10 water pump pulley do and where do you get it?

It's a Ford part of the V10 truck motor. It is a bigger water pump pulley that overdrives the water pump a little and creates more belt tension on the belt to reduce slippage.

Thing about 1/4 mile times, mph tells you more about how much horsepower you are making then the E.T. does. E.T. is more depended upon traction. For instance, my old 88 GT would run 11.20 at 122mph on slicks and then on regular tires it would run high 12's at 120+pmh and then high 11's at 122mph with Nitto drag radials.

Get those 60' times down and it will go 13's, should run 13.7 around 102 Mph and mid to low 13 on a tire.

I went to the track last weekend ... With the new setup 12.6 at112.83 mph. 1.8 60 foot time. I do have traction issues so I am sure that time will come down some. What does the 60 foot time tell you?

Wiggy, what's was your DA when you went? 112 mph seems low for your setup. I only say this because I have the 3.67 pulley and I have run 12.73 @ 113 with a 2.0 sec 60. Mph is a good indicator of horsepower and I would imagine you would have about 40hp on me.

60' times indicate how well your getting out of the hole. 1.8 is good for a street tire, drag tires should see around 1.5ish times. 1/10th in the 60' is about 2/10ths at the end. So take 1/10th off your 60' and you should see about 2/10ths off your 1/4 mile time.

I am running MT's DR's, I think I am to agressive at the start, I spin all through first. Going to try a lower rpm launch next time.
What is DA? Density Altitude? The track is almost at 3K MSL, Barometer 27.46, 84 degrees.
I did experience something new with the car, it has a hard time starting when it is hot. It reminds me of vapor lock, it sputters dies and the immediatly will fire right up. Kind of embarrassing...only does it when it is hot.

Going to the track again on the 22nd...got to find a road course, this 1/4 mile stuff is really addicting!

OK, that makes sense. Your DA (Density Altitude) is almost twice what mine was when I made my run.

Thats great, I knew there was more of us racing our cars. Its all about the setup and launch, I had my best 60ft when I hit it @3500rpm and slipped the stock clutch a little bit, managed a 1.8 short time.

03 fridge, are you comming to the Saleen meet with us in San Antonio in three weeks?

One trick the magazines and manufacturers use is that they corrct ET's to sea level. I used to get frustrated at the drag strip with my car and motorcycles; not getting close to the ET's in the high desert that the test riders/drivers were able toin the magazines. This is a simple calculation to adjust your ET to sea level as they do. ET x .9674

12.73 X .9674 = 12.32

This was information from a motorcycle magazine I read 30 years ago.

http://www.dragtimes.com/da-density-...calculator.php

This is the site I use. You can calculate your DA based on the date, time, and track you raced at. It also has an option to convert times to sea level.

Very cool, I will check it out. I was interested in the onboard systems that calculate your ET speed, reaction time etc, Anyone put this on the Saleen Mustang?

You can get a G-tech unit. They get pretty close. There are also apps you get for Android and iOS that work pretty good too.
