Default Who has the highest hp/tq numbers? - Saleen Series I-IV

Been thinking....who has the highest hp/tq numbers with a STOCK Saleen Series I-IV SC (not Series V)?

I know the Berylium Beast is running 500rwhp....but that's w/ a Series V....Anyone else close to that with a Series I-IV? There has been a lot of talk lately about getting into the motors and upgrading but most peopel change out the SC by then as well. I know that the highest your gonna see non-forged is roughly 415rwhp. But who has a forged bottom end running the STOCK non-extreme Saleen SC?

* I DO NOT want your numbers for an aftermarket SC or 4v motor (sorry CodeRedSaleen LOL). I'm just not going that route at all, want to stay with a stock looking engine.

Very interesting thread.. I'll post my numbers once I finish installing the last parts I have to install and get in tuned. :) I'm aiming for anything higher than 435rwhp.

Last time at the track I trapped 108-110 for 9 passes. lol. It was a slow night.

14.0 is the best I could do on the Pirelli's.

"James contracted VT Engines to construct a fresh short-block centered around a forged eight-bolt Cobra crank, 0.020-over forged Diamond pistons with a 19cc dish and Manley forged H-beam rods. Displacing 283 ci and with 9.1:1 compression, VT calls it the GT Sportsman. Modular Powerhouse custom blower cams and Comp Cams beehive springs are fitted to the stock heads.

Since everything was apart anyway, a SPEC clutch and billet-steel SFI-approved flywheel were added to front the reworked Tremec 3650 tranny. Installation and tuning were handled by Pandes Performance in Westland, Michigan. Why build all this strength? Because James decided to up the boost (13 psi) with a Chicane 66mm blower pulley and a custom Nitrous Express laughing-gas system. He also opted for an NX N-tercooler to chill the boost breath. On a typically conservative Mustang dyno, the results are 477 rwhp without the nitrous and 567 rwhp with it. The tough short-block was likely a wise investment."

Stock heads
Series II SC w/66mm pulley
Stg2 Cams
.020 over bore (stock compression?)
75mm TB
SCT MAF
Long Tubes w/H-pipe
SCT Tune

The stock compression ratio was 9.1:1 from 99 to 01 and they upped it to 9.4:1 in 2002 to 2004 and now the 2005 models have a 9.8:1 CR.

I didnt know the series 1&2 blowers could put out that much power. My 99 before I did the series 4 swap with the series 1 blower put out 337rwhp and was maxed out. It had a fully built motor, stock port/polished heads, hp 292 cams, full exhaust, chicane pulley, 75mm throttlebody, bbk cai, and 80mm maf.

your numbers STD or SAE?
Same setup I'm running....except I do not have the IW Overdrive pulley or LFP H/E (yet ;) ) Other than that it is the same.

What boost levels and IAT's re you seeing? I'd love to see a dyno graph!
I'd be happy to see over 400rwhp....anything more than what you got I'm guessing is gonna need a forged bottom end!

thanks!

I have about the same mods at countum, minus the crank pulley, long tubes, spark plugs. I just added the Chicane I/C, LFP heat exchanger, LFP supertank, Bosch Pump, and a 66mm S/C pulley. Can't wait to get a tune and see if I can do better than 320/340!

I talked with Fastlane Motorsports yesterday about engine upgrades to handle more power....these are the notes:

1. The Trick FLow heads have not produced very much gain on the motors they have tested. These heads were developed fo rthe BOSS block with the larger 3.7 bore.
The boss block adds quite a bit of money...even more for the AL version!
2. For the price, the port & polished stock heads with larger valves will be better.
3. They do not recommend stroking the motor due to longevity reasons.
4. They recommended me to have my stock block bored .030 over (284ci) stock compression ratio and do a cobra crank and forged rod/pistons. Get the Stock heads ported and due "Twin-Screw" stg2 comp blower cams. with these upgrades I coudl push more boost with a lower pulley (Heat soak dependent) I should get around 450 rwhp. (from reading Jame's mods/numbers above that is about right)

All for $10,000 out the door w/labor & tax....NOT worth the cost in my opinion!
I may stay just like she is and just add the LFP H/E and be done with it!?

I called JDM today and talked to them....
They recommend doing the 10% Overdrive crank pulley ($399) and upgrading the H/E ($299) to cover the heat soak issue that running more boost might cause. They said that I'll be at about the highest I can go with the stock bottom end at that point.

Adding Cams would be good as well but is gonna be more $$$. Port and Polishing the heads will cause the boost to go down cause the better flow but that's not a bad thing, just gonna be pushing it to the limits on hp/tq #'s at that point on the stock rods/pistons.

So looks like I might be all done on perf mods after I order the IW crank pulley next week.

So how much boost does the 10% overdrive pulley give you?

Depends on your exact setup....but should be somewhere between 2-2.5lbs more. Which will put me at 14lbs boost peak.
But "countum" should have the definitive answer cause he is already running the same setup I'm going for.

PJ with SuperShaker @ 8lbs boost = 483 RWHP / 464RWTQ.

Has the opporunity of taking the boost much higher.
