The air box modification can be seen in this photo. See how the OE base was cut out.

You received about 10K off sticker. Not bad. You should still have a 3/36 Ford and Saleen warranty while enjoying a "new" vehicle.

I believe most of the Mustangs that ASC/Saleen produced for 2009 were of the Racecraft variety. The Troy facility had assembled 2009s during the time frame of Woodward Dream Cruise 2008. By the holiday season of 2008... October, November, December... ASC/Saleen was done.

The Ambient Lighting feature was part of the Ford Mustang IUP package in 2009. ASC/Saleen still had a still had a knock-down vehicle from Ford to base the Saleen conversions on. Though, in 2009, you will find a few funky vehicles that were loaded to the gills with factory Ford equipment that became Saleens.

IE: Vehicles with factory Ford leather, HIDs, rear wings, chrome 18" wheels, etc.

The louvers and side quarter trim panels can be purchased from Found-A-Deal/Buy Saleen in Tennessee or MJA/SPV in Michigan.

Found-A-Deal had a large collection of 2005-09 Saleen and Racecraft parts at closeout pricing.

Jess Albright @ MJA/SPV can connect you with their selection of parts as well.

Yes, just cut the bottom of the air box.

Hi I think you got a great deal on your car. You bought it close to the same price as a GT but man look what you got for your money, good find. You paid as much for a new one as some people pay for a used one. I would not cut the air box it might need a tune if you do. You should buy a CAI and tune from JDM. You can always put the air box back on and put your car back to stock for warranty work.

I talked to a guy at racecraft and he said it shouldn't n eed a tune if just cutting air box and axleback exhaust. And he said they were under rated close to 445 HP the airbox and axle back exhaust should put me close to 475 he said nit sure I don't want to void warranty

I actually spoke with Saleen Speedlab this morning. He confirmed what you heard that they were underrated and are closer to 445 hp. He told me to cut the bottom out of the airbox and add an exhaust. That should put it at about 475hp. He also said you can get a tune but it is not neccessary unless you want a more aggressive tune, but the tune currently programmed in the car was made to handle these changes. I was also at mustang week and they had saleen 435S. The saleen guys there said the only real performance change was that they cut the bottom of the airbox out of that one but it had the same tune is the 420S.

I might have a cut Saleen box in my pile of spare parts. I can't recall off-hand if I sold it previously.
