Default Warning: Saleen PJ #135 was Totaled

I was the owner of PJ #135 until it met its demise. Just received a phone call from the person(s) who purchased this vehicle damaged and repaired it themselves. Thus leaving the title unsalvaged. PJ #135 was damaged to the tune over $20,000.00, 80% of the body has been replaced. This is to warn anyone who might be in the market for this spectacular vehicle. So please stay away from PJ #135.

What a shame. Were you the owner of the car when the damage occured, or did it happen with the new owner ?
Any photo's of the car with the damage ?
Wouldn't it be cheaper to sell the parts and buy an other PJ ?

Dutch,

I am the one who wrecked the vehicle. I do have pictures that i will upload sometime next week. The damage was mostly to the body. The one structural problem was the passenger front apron was completely crushed, and the passenger front tire was bent in pretty bad. I sold the vehicle to a salvage yard (at the time was a better option for me rather than parting it out).

Tony, sorry to hear about your car. Of course we want to know the details and see pictures.

I have been wondering what I would do if I totaled mine on the track since insurance will not cover it.

Man, sorry to hear that Tony.

It sounds like the wreck was bad, so glad no one was hurt.

Are you able to share what you sold it for? I wish I knew, I would love to buy a wrecked one for a track day car.

If you had insurance and used it, it should show up on a carfax report.

That is a great point.

In this market, I'd agree this would be the better way to go.

The AutoCheck report claims to have not been in an accident.

Default Owners Response on Ebay

So I contacted the owner selling #135 on Ebay and here is his response to my question of " on the forums the previous owner states that the car was totaled, about $20K in repairs." Here is the owners answer:

" replaced right finder door and 1/4 car drove fine my cost to repair car was $5600 just drove it on a 300 mile weekend trip car looks good drives good did u check the carfax?"

Default Update

Had an answer from the new seller about # 135 and he is not certain as to what the fuss is. In my oponion there is not fuss, but a seller should represent the car as true. A buyer needs to know what he is buying; doesn't mean he ( or she ) will not buy, but you need to know what you are bidding for. One owner states near total wreck, new owner states not much damage. Someone is correct and someone isn't, but we hope that owners will be honest when selling proformace and collectable cars. If the car isn't fit, someone could get hurt driving the car. That would not be a great thing to live with for a few bucks. You can always replace a piece of metal and plastic. Forget about the future value of the car as a collectable; No one is going to get rich in this lifetime from our Saleen's we just love to drive, look and clean them.

Thank goodness we have this forum to share information and our passion about our Saleen's. Thanks SOEC, I get a good deal of information and support from our site.

Default pictures of 135

The new owner was able to post some pictures of #135 before the repairs. This will help prospective buyers in the bidding process. I commend him for understanding the value of posting these pictures; before and after.

Yep. Bravo to him for posting those and now bidders know exactly what damage was done and what they are bidding on.
