Default Steve Saleen's Ford GT on the Auction Block

Steve Saleen evidently has too many cars in his stable, and this Ford GT is losing out to his Lizstick S281 with a Scenic Roof...

That video is really worth watching! This is at least the second time this car has been on the auction block and not yet met reserve, so you still have a chance...

Bid while the bidding's good on this rare piece of Saleen and Ford history -- and good luck!

The build plate reads, "4.6 LITER 4V MUSTANG COBRA." This is because this pre-production engine started off as a 4.6L block and then bored out to 5.4L.

This is per the auction

I was told that the motor that came in that car (as told to me by someone that worked on it) is in fact the 5.4L GT motor. There is a possibility that it was swapped, as SMS is apparently doing work on the GT motor. It kinda makes sense to me. Take a motor out of a car you already have, replace it with a readily available motor you can pick up on ebay or out of any forum, then sell the car as one of a kind....

seems like a good way to save about 30k on a motor

It was a preproduction car.... So it could possibly have a 4.6L that was bored out to a 5.4L.

Now, it is very very possible that there were several different motors in that car like with any preproduction vehicle.

First, I didn't follow the GTs or their program... they were just a "pretty car" to me, but I was under the impression the engines were off-shoots of the Lightning 5.4 S/C program. Unrelated to Mustangs or 4.6s.

Ideas?

This was a pre-production car so it had some early bits on it... it was a 4.6 bored-out to 5.4, as I understand it.

(To confirm what Wayne said, had I read all the posts before I replied.)
