Default Taillight removal problem

While trying to install sequential light in my PJ, I discovered that you can not remove the assembly because the chrome trim is in the way. This is a pain if you need to change bulbs. I called Saleen and they said either remove the trim or slot the bolt holes.

I elongated the holes and with patience and persistence I can now get the taillights out without removing the trim.

A plastic interior trim removal tool helps keep the rubber weather strip flat to slide it past the trim. This is the tool I used on the edges nearest the corners of the light.

You can hardly notice once the nut is back on.

you can also use a piece of breaded fishing line to get behind the trim piece to remove. Almost like what a windshield guy does when he cuts through calk to remove a windshield. PJ trim is only heald on with a few dabs of sylicone. Clean and replace with the same
