The new member from Finland!
Hello all to you!
I recently got my first Saleen, 2007 S281 3V Satin Silver #122. The original owner bought the car in California. Now I'm detailing the car, I want it to be as perfect as possible. At first, a one questions. I did a search but couldn't find the exact answer. What is the widest tire you can run in the rear? I have the original 10" wheels in the rear and the suspension is all original from Saleen. I read that 315 could fit, but I have to be 100% sure before I will make the order. |

Second question:
Have Saleen sold these cars with billet fuel door with NO Saleen text? I have one and I thought it wasn'r oem part but now I saw another Saleen with the similar fuel door.

You can fit 315s on a 10" wheel, but it depends on the brand. Nittos seem to run a little on the smaller side and you can fit them, but Michelin Pilot Super Sports run wide and the widest I'd recommend is a 295. Just go with the tire width recommended by the manufacturer. As far as fitting it on your Saleen, you can do it, but will need to get an adjustable panhard bar or a watts link to make sure the rear end is perfectly centered.

Yes, I know there's diffrences between the brands.
The second choice could be 305's, Brigestone Potenza has ones but I have no idea how width they are?

Bridgestone will list those specs and also recommended wheel widths.

I'm guessing you have one of the only S197 Saleens in Finland!!
Without a panhard bar (which keeps the rear end centered), you can definitely fit a 295 Michelin Pilot Sport tire without rubbing the rear fenders if you have the stock Saleen 10" (50mm offset) wheel. With a panhard bar installed, folks have said they fit 305 Michelin Pilot Sports. I have an aftermarket 10" wheel with a 45 mm offset and fit a 295 Michelin Pilot Sport without issue. As seelye76 mentioned, some tires run narrow. The only 315s I've heard fitting on the rear were Nittos, which I understand run narrow compared to Michelins. But others can weigh in if they've actually fit 315s of other brands on the rear. |

I bought the rear tires, 295 width Continental Sport Contact 6. I can send a pic when they sit in the car.

Still question about the tires...
Now I got the new rear tires but I want the new ones in the front also. I was thinking about 245/25/20? Any experience about that size? Why I want that kind of size...because the road in Finland are very bad shape and if you have wider tires in the front the ride quality is awful.

I'm also going for 295 as rear tires. I have 275/35-20" in the front on the standard 9" wide wheels. It looks great (i think).
The rear 10" wide wheels still has 275/40-20". But i just bought the car, but next tire change will be 295 in the rear. I live in Sweden, and here we have about 15-20 S281 i think, mixed N/A and SC. I have a 2007 S281sc. Kind regards, Morgan. |
