Default Keepin it in da Family! PJ#190

I've talked with Brent (blesseuer) and I'm happy to report that PJ#190 is going to remain "in the family" here at SOEC.

I'm planning to pick up the new ride on Wednesday.

I'm very excited and I appreciate all the input I received from this forum.

You guys (and gals) are AWESOME!

Lookin fwd to the next gathering.

Thanks Brent for the great buying experience.

Default She's Home and Washed

My good and long-time friend, Andy, and I picked the PJ up today, flurries in the air.

Roads were clear, though.

Powerwashed the car, immediately upon arrival back home.
-underside
-wheels, wells
-engine bay
-basically the entire car

Ahh that felt better. It would have been hard to relax/sleep without at least that 'once over' wash. I'll claybar and wax her this weekend, along with removing the wheels to clean the inside of the wheels and wheel wells, as time permits.

Some reactions from family and friends...

"You baller!" - steve
"That is BAD ***!" -andy
"You're outa control bubba; when can I drive it" -john
"It's no corvette, but ..." -dad
"This is a real race car." -son
"Wow, this car is serious." -wife

Thanks Bruce.

I'm stoked about this PJ Saleen.

Tomorrow...

The car is going up and the wheels are coming off.

In other words, a MrClean "wheels off" detail.

Be careful with what you try to use to clean the inside of the wheels. They are only painted (not clear coated or powder coated) so things like lacquer thinner and brake cleaner will take the paint off.

It seems like there is some sort of coating on the inside of the wheels which is now stained or dirty. Regular soap and water did not seem to affect it at all.

Mine are the same and I tried to clean them with various cleaners and learned by mistake not to try anything too strong.

I am not sure that you will be able to clean them.

I'd probably try a cleaner wax, as the polishes should hopefully remove the soils -- test any product in an inconspicuous area such one that would be hidden behind a spoke, if possible.

What cleaners did you try and what did they do?

Since the paint on the inside of the wheels is not clear coated it seems to be very pourus and any type of dirt settles in to stay.

I tried Simple Green, various glass cleaners, and a few other things that I can't remember.

One thing for sure was that lacquer thinner and brake cleaner take the paint completely off.

Default Passenger Side Front Wheel

Three of the four wheels cleaned up very nicely using "Cleaner Fluid" (by Patch Rubber Co.).

The fourth wheel, the PS front, looks like some brake fluid may have leaked on to it at some point. No big deal, though. I will likely respray the inside of the wheel.

Anyone know the paint color of the wheel?

Burned a quarter tank of gas driving 35 miles!

If you are like me and have to drive a Toyota Prius as your daily driver, the PJ is very impressive and a blast to drive fast.

I keep wanting to get a different daily driver but I figure I would not be able to afford my toy and road course fees if I had to pay for more than 6 gallons of gas per week. I figure the money I save (and manhood I lose) supports my hobby.

I need to have one of those bumper stickers on the Prius that says something about my other car being a gas guzzler.

Thanks Brent. I'm taking great care of PJ 190, and yes enjoying the car, too.

Your next car is out there.

I still think you need to go drive that 06 Saleen at Krieger.
