Question Q: S-281 Emblem for Rear Deck 1999-04?

I have an real S-281 that has a sticker instead of an emblem on the rear deck. It doesn't look like you can buy these emblems from Saleen? The ones I see on eBay say they are 05-09 fender emblems. Any ideas where I can get an authentic and correct trunk badge for 99-04? https://www.ebay.com/itm/2005-2009-S...IAAOSwJ~hdy4S3

The 1999-04 truck emblems are obsolete. Same goes for the 1999-04 foil decal version.

The 2005-10 fender emblems are very similar to the 1999-04 truck emblems, but different.

What is the foil decal version? Certain cars got a decal and not an emblem?

Correct. Saleen used both a foil decal and a plastic emblem on their Saleen Mustang conversions. I would say the foil decals are more of a 1999 to 2001 or 2002 thing. You will see both the S281 and S351 with either chrome decals or the plastic emblems.

I believe all the Extreme cars had the emblems.

Best to make a "part wanted" ad and see if anyone saved an emblem set.

Thanks for all the help. My car is actually a 2003 S-281C (Cobra). Do you think it would have had an emblem or a foil on the back? It has a foil right now, but I'm thinking that's incorrect?

The foil decal is probably correct. Saleen used what they had in-stock.

Default deck emblems

My 02-11E came with the stickers. What I did was cover them with masking tape with exact size of the two stickers and did the satin black vinyl treatment over it (like the mach 1) but with vinyl, then I used the 05 up emblems (S281 and Supercharged). You won't hate yourself for using them. They are the same dimensions if not pretty darn close. The S281 plastic emblems are pretty much the same for all (gloss black background if you will) and some textured like the ones in your link, and I think the only difference for the plastic Supercharged emblem is the background, correct would be a smooth gloss black finish...and the 05-09 have a textured matte finish. What is cool is that the decals and the emblems have the same dimensions. Look for the S281 and supercharged emblems that have a gloss black background if not go for the textured ones. Hope this helps.
