Default 07 Extreme starting issues

I havent been driving my extreme regularly for the past 6 months. Every couple weeks I had been starting the car to drive around for about a half hour then park it again. The last 2 times I have had to charge the battery. After a bit of a charge it started no problem until today. Car wouldnt start, charged the battery, still wouldnt start. Had the auto parts store check my 2/2011 Optima battery, and it is good. Installed the battery, no go. The car wont turn over and there is a faint click which sounds like its coming from under the glove box. Also, the anti theft icon blinks rapidly and the engine light blinks 7 times.

I would appreciate any help!!

I would seriously have another auto parts place run a check on it. They need to do a load test, not just measure the voltage which they commonly do even if they hook it up to their machine.

Have you done any recent mods to the car?

No, no recent changes other than the driving. My battery charger show that the battery is not receiving a charge. Figured the auto parts store would tell me which may be bad. Called Oreily, it seems they do a charge and load test. I guess another opinion couldnt hurt.

thanks

It takes a lot of juice to start these cars, I have bought one new battery but went back to the Ford battery part as it has the correct amps for starting the car.

Low charges and trying to jump start these will not work and will only produce a click like you are getting now.

Also you may check your battery tender as they can sometimes quit working properly as well.

The battery in question starts my expedition. Can the battery issue be ruled out? Would there be a reason it would start the expedition and not the stang?

Back to square one.......

If not the battery the next thing i would move onto would be the alternator and/or starter.

If its not clicking at all it sounds to me like it's the starter. Also make sure you check all of your cables. Sitting as much as it is something could be corroded.

Stock Ford battery for my 06 500amps, I also have an 08 Mountaineer and have replaced the battery in it with another Motorcraft battery and it is rated at 650amps.

Next would be a check for bad connections/continuity and check starter as others are saying.

Oren, it wouldn't be the alt. but it very well could be the starter, never even considered that since they never go bad. The more I think about it the more Im pointing at the starter sylenoid provided the cables are in good shape.

Im having the same issues now with my 2006 S/C. Cant get it to start. Just all of a sudden too. Pulled into my house, noticed the Radio turn off all of a sudden 5 seconds before turning the car off, then now the car wont start.

Finally back on the road. The culprit was a loose wire in the smart junction box, bouncing around causing kaos.
